Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Backup SME / Backup Administration Lead to lead the design, implementation, administration, and optimization of enterprise backup, recovery, and cyber-resilience solutions. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Cohesity Data Protection, enterprise infrastructure, cloud storage technologies, disaster recovery, and data protection best practices.

This role is responsible for ensuring the availability, integrity, security, and recoverability of critical business data across on-premises and multi-cloud environments. The successful candidate will work closely with Infrastructure, Cloud, Storage, Database, Security, and Operations teams while providing technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers.

 

Key Responsibilities

Backup & Recovery Management

             Design, implement, and administer enterprise backup, recovery, and archival solutions using Cohesity Data Protection.

             Configure and maintain backup policies, protection groups, retention schedules, replication strategies, and long-term archival solutions.

             Perform backup validation, restore testing, application recovery exercises, and Disaster Recovery (DR) drills.

             Ensure adherence to defined RPO/RTO objectives and business continuity requirements.

             Monitor backup environments proactively, investigate failures, and implement corrective actions.

Cohesity Platform Administration

             Administer and maintain Cohesity Cluster Architecture, including SpanFS, storage services, nodes, and distributed microservices.

             Execute cluster expansion, software upgrades, firmware updates, and performance optimization activities.

             Perform health checks, capacity planning, trend analysis, and infrastructure optimization.

Cyber Resilience & Data Protection

             Implement immutable backup configurations and ransomware protection strategies.

             Develop and maintain cyber recovery solutions aligned with organizational security policies.

             Manage data encryption, access controls, credential security, and CyberArk integration.

             Support audit and compliance requirements including HIPAA, GDPR, ISO 27001, and internal security standards.

Cloud & Infrastructure Integration

             Integrate Cohesity solutions with Microsoft Azure, AWS, and S3-compatible storage platforms.

             Support backup and recovery for enterprise workloads including:

o             VMware vSphere

o             Hyper-V

o             Microsoft SQL Server

o             Oracle Databases

o             Windows Servers

o             Linux (RHEL)

o             NAS and File Systems

             Configure and manage NetApp SnapVault, snapshots, and replication technologies.

Incident & Service Management

             Lead troubleshooting efforts for critical P1/P2 incidents.

             Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures.

             Ensure service delivery aligns with defined SLAs and operational standards.

             Follow ITIL best practices for Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management using ServiceNow.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

             Develop and maintain automation solutions using PowerShell, Python, REST APIs, and scripting frameworks.

             Improve operational efficiency through process optimization and self-healing automation.

             Generate operational reports, dashboards, compliance reports, and executive-level metrics.

Leadership & Collaboration

             Provide technical leadership and mentorship to backup administrators and junior engineers.

             Collaborate with Storage, Virtualization, Database, Security, Linux, Windows, and Cloud teams.

             Participate in on-call support and major incident management activities.

             Drive continuous improvement initiatives and technology modernization programs.

Required Experience

             Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Cohesity platform administration.

             Proven experience supporting large-scale enterprise environments.

             Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning experience across backup, storage, virtualization, and operating system platforms.

             Experience working in 24x7 mission-critical production environments.

 

The pay range for this role is $100,000 - $110,000* per annum including any bonuses or variable pay.
