Vaco is actively seeking an experienced Data Analyst / Transformation Analyst, II for a direct-hire role focused on data modernization and enterprise change management initiatives across a global enterprise.


Position Summary

The Data Analyst will operate with autonomy within a centralized analytics and technology team responsible for supporting business operations through modern data engineering, analysis, reporting, and insight generation.  

The analyst will work closely with business stakeholders, product managers, and engineering teams to obtain requirements, analyze data sources, and translate requirements into structured queries and actionable datasets, and deliver actionable insights within a complex and highly regulated industry.


Strong cross-functional communication skills, the ability to work independently, and skills to support organizational change management (OCM) initiatives are critical for success in this role.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a working knowledge of business operations and established data models to support advanced reporting, analysis, and data driven decision making.
  • Contribute to process improvements via data analysis and presentation, identifying opportunities to enhance operations, deliverables, reporting practices, and data accessibility.
  • Partner with leadership, business stakeholders, product managers, technical teams, and end-users to gather and refine requirements for complex reporting and analytical initiatives.
  • Write and maintain queries to fulfill ad hoc reporting requests and support broader analytical or operational initiatives.
  • Analyze underlying data sources to ensure proper interpretation and appropriate utilization.
  • Validate data outputs and perform quality checks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with business expectations.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of data sources, definitions, query logic, and analytical outputs to support transparency and long-term usability.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned datasets and provide guidance to stakeholders and other analysts on proper data usage.
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders to understand needs, provide updates, and translate technical findings into actionable insights.
  • Support organizational change management efforts by helping teams understand new data capabilities, reporting processes, or analytical outputs.
  • Provide support to fellow analysts during larger initiatives or complex analytical efforts.
  • Operate independently while managing multiple initiatives and priorities in a fast paced environment.


Requirements:
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across executive, technical, and operational stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Exposure supporting organizational change management (OCM) / data cloud transformation initiatives related to systems, reporting, or operational processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills including the ability to identify patterns, relationships, and anomalies in data.
  • Ability to clearly document processes, reporting logic and data structures for team and organizational consumption.


Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in data analysis, reporting, analytics, science, or a related technical role.
  • Experience with Python for data analysis, automation, and manipulation with experience using modern data libraries and scripting to support reporting and analytical workflows.
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts including the ability to write queries that analyze, transform, and aggregate complex datasets.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard productivity applications for data analysis, reporting, and documentation.
  • Experience working within modern cloud based data environments, with exposure to platforms such as AWS and connected data engineering tools a plus.
  • Exposure to consumer marketing analytics or marketing data environments is considered a plus.
  • Recognition of data control standards, security tools, and industry best practices within a highly regulated industry.
  • Familiarity with analytics, reporting, and business intelligence tools used to support operational and strategic decision making.
  • Comprehension of application architecture, data integrations, and how enterprise systems generate and exchange data.
  • Prior experience within financial, banking, wealth, or investment sectors is a plus.
  • Previous experience collaborating with business stakeholders to understand objectives and provide guidance on the evaluation and appropriate interpretation of presented data.


Additional Details
  • Employment Type: Direct-Hire with Client
  • Primary Schedule: Monday – Friday / 8a – 5p
  • Location: Downtown St. Louis
  • Target Total Compensation: $90k – 110k
  • Travel: Under 10%
