Network Engineer V

Target Salary: $110K to $120K

LOCATION: DLIFLC, 1759 Lewis Road, Monterey, CA 93944

Position Overview:

The person in this position will be the onsite Extreme Networks engineer managing the Extreme Networks, who possess a combination of experience, skills, and qualifications.

Job Duties:
  • Manage network related projects, including planning, implementation, and documentation, including network upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure expansions.
  • Troubleshooting complex network issues, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions .
  • Attend and conduct meetings with other departments for integrated solutions.
  • Speak to and translate complex technical terminology to higher level authorities.
  • Train networking team on Extreme Network changes, processes and best practices
  • Interface, work with, and assist customers and peers with customer services best practices.
  • Perform after hours maintenance windows.
  • Ability to lift and implement devices at 30 lbs.

Job Requirements:
  • Educational requirements include BA/BS from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 5+ years, AA/AS with 7+ years' experience or substitute with 9+years of relevant experience working with network infrastructure, with focus on Extreme Networks products and solutions.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, including but not limited to LAN, WAN, routing, switching, VLANs, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network security. Experience with deployment and administration of routing, switching, wireless, firewall technologies, load balancing, and protocols
  • Certified to work on Extreme Networks products, such as switches, routers, access points, and network management tools.
  • Shall possess a combination of experience and skills with the following manufacturers and applications:
    • VMware NSX: Install, Configure, Manage (V6.2)
    • Ruckus Layer 2 Switches / Wireless Controller / Wireless Access Points
    • Palo Alto Networks Firewall knowledge of PA-7050 / PA-3060 / PA-3260 / PA-5450 / WildFire/URL Filtering
    • Brocade MPLS Implementation Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches
    • Cisco Networks switches and routers
    • Aruba Networks Excellent knowledge of Wireless Controllers / Access Points / Airwave / ClearPass
    • Ciena 100G OME 6500 DWDM System
    • Extreme Networks Layer 2/3, MLXE Switches /Extreme IQ / OSPF, BGP, and MPLS
    • SolarWinds, InMon Sentinel, Uptrends .

Required to Start Qualifications:
  • IAT Level II (CCNA Security, CSA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, or SSCP) Certification and applicable Computing Environment/Operating System Certification is required to Start.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent network vendor certificate is required to Start.
  • A Secret Clearance is required to Start.
