Job Title: Project Cost Analyst Principal

Location: New Albany, OH

Duration:12+ Months

 

Description:

 

M-F, Minimal OT as needed.
Job designation is Onsite, requiring 5 days a week in the office.
Schedule: 5 (8hrs) or 4 (9hrs) plus 4 hrs. on Friday.

Local candidates in the Columbus or New Albany areas. The manager will not consider candidates who require relocation due to the quick turnaround on the start date.


Forecasting, budgeting, and cost analysis experience is a must.
 

Job Summary:
Coordinates project cost analysis and controls across multiple projects, supporting Project Managers and teams with minimal supervision and strong independent judgment. This position will support the client’s Competitive Transmission Projects team. Oversees cost reporting, monitors budgets for accuracy, and collaborates with project teams to apply project management best practices. Responsibilities include budget input, ongoing forecasting (including accrual forecasting), variance analysis, cash management awareness, and communication with internal/external stakeholders. Also drives process optimization. Familiar with procurement processes and their impact on cost and schedule management.

Essential Functions:
1. Coordinate project meetings and assist PMs with documentation and planning relating to project financials.
2. Prepare investment forecasts, cash flows, variance analysis, cost tracking, SOX support, and estimate vs actual reviews.
3. Implement resource/cost plans, baseline budgets, work plans, and project breakdown structures as it relates to project schedule activities.
4. Maintain project records, manage unvouchered liabilities, and oversee the full work order lifecycle from creation to closeout.
5. Support contracting methods, procurement activities, requisitions, bidding, cost reviews, and tracking.
6. Communicate budget and cost information with project stakeholders.
7. Work independently to solve moderately complex problems using technical and analytical skills.
8. Develop and compile measurable KPIs to track forecast accuracy.
9. Support and administer client project/work management standards and governance.
10. Recommend improvements that enhance project and organizational performance.
11. Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to gather and integrate performance and cost data.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree + 6 years of experience, or Associate’s degree + 8 years of  experience in related fields (Accounting, Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, Technology, Project Management).

Experience includes utility operations, project management, cost tracking, forecasting (including accruals), budgeting, accounting principles, or construction.

Additional Requirements:
1. Strong time management, organization, accuracy, and communication skills
2. Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Excel
3. Effective team collaboration
4. Understanding of client policies
5. Experience with cost management systems (Ecosys)
6. Strong creativity and problem-solving; ability to work across organizational levels.
