Job Description
We are seeking a hands-on Senior SQL Server Database Administrator with strong expertise in database security, audit compliance, privileged access management, and enterprise SQL Server administration within highly regulated environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing mission-critical Microsoft SQL Server platforms while partnering with Security, Risk, and Audit teams to ensure compliance and operational integrity.
This role requires deep technical expertise in SQL Server administration along with a strong understanding of audit controls, access governance, IAM/PAM concepts, and financial industry compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, install, configure, and maintain secure, highly available Microsoft SQL Server environments (SQL Server 2000 2022).
- Manage SQL Server production environments supporting mission-critical financial applications.
- Administer database access controls, including Role-based access control (RBAC), Direct user permissions, Service accounts and Least privilege enforcement.
- Perform access reviews and manual certifications for privileged database users.
- Implement and maintain database security standards aligned with IAM and PAM frameworks.
- Lead database audit activities including Permission reviews, Activity monitoring and Sensitive data access validation.
- Partner with Internal Audit, Compliance, Security, and Risk teams to Respond to audit inquiries, provide audit evidence and Remediate audit findings.
- Develop and maintain documentation for Change management, Access controls, Backup and recovery procedures and Disaster recovery testing.
- Monitor and troubleshoot SQL Server incidents while maintaining audit-ready operational documentation.
- Implement database encryption, auditing, and data protection controls.
- Support ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Participate in 24x7 production support and on-call rotation.
Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of SQL Server DBA experience in enterprise environments
- Strong experience with SQL Server 2000 2022, HA/DR solutions, Backup & recovery, Performance tuning, Clustering, Replication, AlwaysOn.
- Strong expertise in Database security, Auditing & monitoring, RBAC, IAM/PAM concepts, Access governance and Compliance controls.
- Experience supporting SOX, internal audits, or regulatory compliance initiatives
- Strong T-SQL scripting skills
- Experience with SSIS / DTS, Extended Events, System Views, Resource Governor and Indexing & Partitioning.
- Experience working in regulated industries such as Banking, Financial Services and Insurance.
