Job description

Internship: Commodity Manager and Purchasing data analyst

Duration- 3 months to 1 year, internship for fall to potential spring

About the Role:
As a Commodity Manager Intern, you will support the purchasing team in managing a portfolio of commodities (raw materials, components,) that are critical to the company's operations. You will gain hands-on experience in supplier management, sourcing strategies, contract negotiations, and data management, contributing to cost optimization and supplier performance.
Responsibilities:
Commodity Management:
o Assist in the analysis of commodity markets and suppliers to identify sourcing opportunities and cost drivers.
o Support in the preparation and launch of requests for proposals (RFP/RFQ) to suppliers.
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, logistics) to understand commodity requirements and ensure alignment.
o Participate in supplier meetings and assist in negotiations under supervision.
o Contribute to the development and monitoring of commodity strategies.
o Support risk management initiatives to ensure supply chain continuity.
Data Management:
o Manage and monitor aged purchase orders, proactively following up with stakeholders and suppliers to ensure timely closure.
o Generate, analyze, and distribute SAP reports relevant to purchasing activity and supplier performance.
o Ensure regular updates and accuracy of Purchasing Info Records (PIR) in SAP, supporting data reliability for procurement decisions.
o Update and maintain commodity databases and supplier evaluations.
o Assist in tracking KPIs and reporting on supplier performance, quality, and delivery metrics.
Profile:
Currently pursuing a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field.
Strong analytical and organizational skills; comfortable working with data in Excel and ERP systems (SAP experience is a plus).
Detail-oriented, with an ability to manage and validate data effectively.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Curiosity and willingness to learn about industrial purchasing and procurement processes.
