Summary

Job Description:

Quevera is seeking a highly experienced Principal Back End Developer with an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph to support mission-critical programs in Annapolis Junction, Maryland. This role offers flexibility of up to 16 hours of telework per week, based on program needs and mission priorities.

As a Principal Back End Developer, you will serve as a technical leader responsible for architecting, developing, and overseeing complex backend software solutions supporting national security missions. You will lead engineering teams, drive software architecture decisions, establish development standards, and ensure the delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performance systems. Working closely with software engineers, system engineers, and mission stakeholders, you will leverage cutting edge to develop innovative solutions that meet evolving mission requirements.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the technical lead for multiple software development teams supporting mission-critical programs.
  • Architect, design, develop, maintain, and enhance complex backend software solutions throughout the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects and establish engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Engineer and cross-functional teams to design software features and deliver mission-critical products.
  • Analyze user and system requirements to develop scalable, secure, and high-performing software solutions.
  • Conduct software architecture reviews, design reviews, and code reviews to ensure quality and maintainability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex software defects, integration challenges, and performance issues.
  • Exercise sound engineering judgment to solve complex technical problems and drive architectural improvements.
  • Independently deliver medium- to large-scale software features while identifying opportunities to improve assigned systems and codebases.
  • Mentor software engineers and provide technical guidance throughout project execution.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, design artifacts, and implementation plans.
  • Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, technical reviews, and release planning.
  • Ensure the successful delivery of secure, reliable, and high-quality software solutions.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph required.
  • Twenty (20) years of experience as a Software Engineer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. Four (4) additional years of Software Engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as the technical lead for software development teams.
  • Extensive experience designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing complex backend applications and distributed systems throughout the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and enhancement.
  • Expert-level programming experience with Python, Java, and C++.
  • Experience developing applications using Node.js and modern front-end frameworks including Angular and React.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), including API Gateway and AWS Lambda, supporting cloud-native application development.
  • Experience with Git for source code management and version control.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience configuring and supporting HAProxy and Nginx.
  • Extensive experience with relational databases, including PostgreSQL, SQL, database schema design, and advanced query optimization.
  • Experience with NoSQL database technologies.
  • Experience designing and implementing complex algorithms and high-performance software solutions.
  • Experience integrating software systems across diverse operating environments and mission platforms.
  • Experience developing and executing software testing, quality assurance processes, design reviews, and code reviews.
  • Experience generating and reviewing technical documentation and software design artifacts.
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments using Jira and Confluence.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze user and system requirements to develop scalable, high-performing software architectures and evaluate technical tradeoffs using sound engineering judgment.
  • Proven ability to independently deliver medium- to large-scale software features, identify and drive improvements across software systems and codebases, mentor engineers, and lead successful project execution.
