Duration: Fulltime Permanent

Responsibilities

Lead the architecture, design, and technical planning of IT projects, including initial scoping, task breakdown and estimation. Execute projects within the estimated budget.

Provide technical expertise and guidance to the Project team and clients; foster technical expertise within the team.

Act as a technical liaison during pre-sales consultations.

Execute all phases of IT projects, such as but not limited to Office 365, SharePoint, and Azure cloud migrations.

Lead Office 365 tenant-to-tenant migrations, ensuring secure, accurate, and seamless transitions with minimal disruption to client operations.

Design and implement new network systems to support client office openings or relocations. Responsibilities include network equipment (firewall, switch, APs, etc.) setup and installation, and VPN setup. Following equipment installation, perform basic cable management to ensure a clean and organized network environment.

Configure and install server hardware and software, maintain detailed documentation, and ensure compatibility with existing infrastructure.

Implement Intune deployment across client organizations, ensuring devices are properly configured and compliant with corporate policies.

Perform AD migrations, ensuring accurate replication of user accounts and permissions.

Own and strengthen client security posture throughout project delivery. Evaluate the security, compliance, and contractual impact of design and troubleshooting decisions before implementation, and incorporate security requirements into project plans from the outset.

Support client security and compliance initiatives, including security implementations (MFA enforcement, password management, MDM, O365 security hardening), IT audits, regulatory reviews (e.g., HIPAA), access governance and least-privilege administration, identity architecture, and data-protection implementations (e.g., Microsoft Purview, DLP).

Lead client lifecycle engagements, including onboarding assessments and IT audits, post-acquisition IT readiness discovery, and structured decommissioning/wind-down projects with data-preservation requirements.

Produce written deployment plans (domain structure, naming conventions, IP/subnet schemes, network diagrams) and obtain stakeholder approval before configuration begins.

Define and execute post-change validation for every migration (replication health, data consistency, application checks) and document root-cause analysis for failed changes.

Design, implement, and verify backup and disaster-recovery plans, including documented, tested restore procedures, in coordination with our backup partner.

Maintain real-time ticket documentation, IT Glue/MyGlue records, SOP authoring, and support Technology Business Reviews.

Collaborate closely with other engineers on the team to ensure project goals and timelines are met.

Provide regular updates to the Project Manager on work progress, challenges, and project outcomes; participate in project scoping, estimation, planning, and project debrief sessions.

Attend client status meetings and effectively communicate project and technical details to the appropriate levels.

Apply and enforce company processes and quality standards across all deliverables.

Qualifications Required

8+ years of relevant IT experience and working on similar projects.

Previous experience working for a Managed Services Provider (MSP) or IT consulting firm.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.

Proven success as a Senior Project Engineer, System Engineer, or in a similar technical role.

Must be willing and able to travel to client locations as required by project needs, including local, regional, and occasional out-of-state travel.

Regular use of hand and power tools (e.g., drills, cable testers, screwdrivers) for installing racks, servers, network equipment, and supporting cable management.

Must be comfortable handling IT hardware and sensitive electronics in various environments.

Strong expertise in Azure, including cloud migrations and Intune deployments. Candidates lacking Azure expertise must demonstrate advanced server management skills and may be considered for a lower-level role.

Hands-on experience with Office 365, SharePoint, and Azure platforms.

Expertise in server management and network configuration.

Strong Hyper-V expertise: live migration, export/import, host upgrades, and VM storage management. (Our project mix is genuinely hybrid, roughly balanced between on-prem virtualization and cloud migration work.)

Experience with Intune and AD migration projects.

Deep working knowledge of layered security environments - endpoint protection and application allowlisting, email security gateways, Group Policy hardening, MFA/identity controls - and a demonstrated understanding of how changes to any single control affect the client's overall risk profile and service commitments.

Track record of balancing operational urgency with security integrity when troubleshooting production issues.

Hands-on experience with business-class backup/BDR platforms (e.g., Acronis, Datto, Replibit or comparable) and tested restore procedures.

Experience delivering in co-managed and partner-supported models (working alongside vendor engineers and coordinating delivery through partner relationships).

Strong consultative scoping and estimation skills - the ability to assess client needs, write a clear SOW-level scope, and justify the investment to a client decision-maker. This directly affects proposal conversion and is a core part of the role.

Strong ability to perform project estimations and conduct pre-sales discussions with clients, including assessing client needs and providing technical input on proposals and solutions.

Positive attitude and focus on continuous improvement and innovation.

Strong time management skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver on time and within budget.

Strong expertise with MSP technology stack, including but not limited to ConnectWise, Kaseya, IT Glue, variety of backup and security solutions.

High attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

Exceptional communication skills, capable of translating complex technical information into business terms for clients and stakeholders.

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

Qualifications Preferred

Industry certifications such as ITIL, Cisco (CCNA, CCNP), or Microsoft certifications (e.g., MS-100, AZ-104) are a plus.

IT audit expertise.

Experience serving clients in regulated industries (HIPAA/healthcare, legal, financial services).

Experience with Microsoft modern workplace technologies: Copilot deployment, Purview/DLP, Windows 365/Cloud PC.

Work Environment / Location

This role is primarily on-site, based in the Houston office, and includes work at client locations. Regular local and regional travel within the Greater Houston area is expected, along with periodic travel to other in-state locations. Occasional out-of-state travel may be required based on project and business needs. Travel frequency may vary and is driven by client engagements and project requirements. Client environment may include office buildings, co-working spaces, warehouses, or data centers.

Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing and able to drive to client locations as required by project needs. Must have access to a reliable, insured vehicle suitable for transporting equipment such as servers, workstations, or UPS units to client sites. Proof of insurance may be required upon hire or periodically thereafter. Mileage incurred for approved business-related travel will be reimbursed in accordance with company policy.

After 3 months, the employee may be eligible to work in a hybrid position (remotely 2 days/week) based on performance, dependability, and client needs.

Must be adaptable to working in varying conditions, including warm or noisy server rooms or construction/renovation sites during office buildouts.

Must be comfortable using basic hand tools, such as screwdriver, pliers, wrench, utility knife, tape measure, hammer, etc.

Must be able to lift items up to 50 lbs. occasionally (e.g., servers, networking equipment, UPS units, workstations, etc.).

Frequent standing, bending, and crawling under desks or in server/network rooms during equipment installation.

Use of ladders may be necessary when accessing ceiling-mounted infrastructure.

This is an exempt position and may require work outside of regular business hours to meet client or business needs. The company supports reasonable rest and recovery time for productivity and well-being.

May be required to be on-call to address emergency issues.

Compliance with client safety procedures, dress codes, and facility access policies is required.
