Job Description: As a Slack Architect / Platform Architect/ Collaboration Architect you will support the design and evolution of collaboration platform solutions that operate at scale across office and home environments. Working under the guidance of senior architects, you will help translate requirements into clear designs, evaluate technology options, and document the patterns that engineering teams build against. In this role you will:
• Contribute to solution designs, reference architectures, and integration patterns for collaboration platforms.
• Help evaluate platforms, APIs, and vendors, and capture trade-offs in clear decision records.
• Produce and maintain architecture documentation, diagrams, and data flows.
• Work with engineering, security, and operations teams to ensure designs are deployable, observable, and supportable.
• Analyze how proposed solutions behave at scale and identify failure modes early.
• Support proofs of concept and help validate that designs hold up under real-world conditions.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, or platform operations.
• Working understanding of distributed systems, REST APIs, and integration patterns.
• Experience with at least one cloud platform such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Ability to communicate technical designs clearly in writing and diagrams.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Exposure to solution or enterprise architecture practice, including design documentation and trade-off analysis.
• Experience with collaboration or SaaS platforms such as Webex, Slack, or Microsoft 365.
• Familiarity with identity and access concepts such as SSO, SAML, SCIM, and OAuth.
• Awareness of an architecture framework such as TOGAF, or a cloud architecture certification.
• Understanding of operational concerns including monitoring, reliability, and deployment safety.
