Senior Full-Stack Tech Lead (.NET 8 with MVC)
Start Date: Immediate
Duration: 1 year to start (With Possible Extension)
Location: Baltimore, MD
Years of Experience: 10+ years of experience
Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Technical Lead to guide our engineering team through complex legacy modernization and technical transformation. In this role, you will be a working leader serving as a strong coding partner while driving architectural strategy, mentoring developers, and shifting the team toward high-trust Agile methodologies. You will lead the transition away from manual processes by implementing robust automated pipelines and modernizing our tech stack. The ideal candidate has deep, long-term expertise as a Full-Stack Developer in the Microsoft ecosystem (.NET 8, MVC, SQL Server) and a passion for turning rigid, siloed systems into secure, modern, and modular applications. If you excel at problem-solving, enjoy unblocking developers, and want to shape a collaborative engineering culture, this role is for you.
Responsibilities:
- Hands-On Team Collaboration: Act as a strong coding partner to help the team transition from isolated work to collaborative development. Perform thorough code reviews ensuring adherence to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Developer Mentorship: Provide immediate, hands-on guidance when developers are stuck. Offer specific technical suggestions to overcome roadblocks and upskill the team to maintain systems independently.
- Agile Task Management: Champion Agile methodologies. Translate high-level business goals into clear, actionable technical tasks for developers and proactively remove operational roadblocks.
- CI/CD & Release Automation: Lead the shift toward faster, safer releases. Implement, configure, and maintain automated deployment pipelines using GitHub CI/CD to eliminate manual, error-prone release processes.
- Legacy Modernization: Lead the architectural strategy to refactor fragile legacy systems into modern, modular services. Facilitate technical decision-making collaboratively with the team.
- System Integration: Design and guide the connection of disparate applications and on-premise hosted services securely via APIs, breaking down system silos.
- Engineering Advocacy: Cultivate a balanced, empowered engineering culture. Facilitate technical decisions collaboratively rather than relying on top-down directives.
Required Skills and Experience:
Experience:
- 8 10 years of demonstrated experience as a Full-Stack Developer and 5 7 years as a Tech Lead.
- Core Technology Stack: Proficiency in .NET 8 (and 10), ASP.NET MVC Framework, and Razor Pages is essential. Strong command of the C# programming language.
- Database Management: Solid experience with relational databases, particularly SQL Server, including database design, performance tuning, and complex data migrations.
- Architecture & Design: Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.
- API Integration: Experience with networked API design and consumption, securely connecting legacy applications to hosted and third-party services.
- Front-End Technologies: Solid understanding of front-end web technologies including JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, client-side scripting, AJAX, and modern JavaScript libraries/frameworks.
- Testing Practices: Knowledge of unit testing frameworks and practices designed to catch and prevent regression bugs.
- Version Control & DevOps: Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and a proven track record of configuring GitHub for automated build and deployment pipelines.
- Problem Solving: Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills, with the ability to diagnose broken legacy systems and implement updates smoothly.
- Agile Methodology: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an Agile/Scrum environment, with a history of helping teams migrate from Waterfall processes.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively mentor developers and translate business goals into technical execution.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Cloud & Architecture: Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS). Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) and microservices architecture.
- Third-Party Integrations: Familiarity with third-party tools like Govolution payment portal or LexisNexis.
- Data orchestration: Familiarity with building and integrating performant data-intensive services and applications, especially batch processing workflows
- Modern JavaScript Ecosystems: Proficiency or familiarity with Node.js and specific front-end frameworks like Vue, Angular, or React.
- Design Systems: Experience leveraging established UI/UX design systems (such as the U.S. Web Design System - USWDS) to accelerate development and maintain visual consistency.
