Summary

Description

We are looking for an experienced marketing and communications leader to shape how our mission is presented to the public in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This role will guide enterprise-wide messaging, elevate brand presence, and create compelling narratives that deepen community awareness and support organizational goals. The Director will also work closely with internal leaders to connect communications efforts with fundraising, advocacy, and program priorities.

Responsibilities:
Create and lead a unified marketing and communications roadmap that supports strategic objectives and expands organizational visibility.
Direct brand stewardship across print, digital, and external-facing materials to maintain a clear and consistent voice.
Oversee development of high-quality content such as organizational updates, leadership messages, campaign assets, donor materials, and impact-driven stories.
Manage digital outreach efforts, including website messaging, social media planning, online campaigns, and reporting on channel performance.
Build and maintain strong relationships with media contacts while guiding press outreach, public statements, and earned coverage opportunities.
Collaborate with fundraising and program teams to produce communications that engage donors, community partners, advocates, and other stakeholders.
Prepare and lead communications responses for sensitive or high-visibility situations to protect and strengthen organizational reputation.
Supervise the communications budget, coordinate external agency or vendor support, and provide leadership to a small team.
Use analytics and audience insights to refine messaging strategies and improve engagement across marketing channels.

Requirements

At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in communications, marketing, or public relations leadership roles.
Proven ability to design and execute integrated marketing and communications initiatives that support organizational growth and reputation.
Strong background in writing, editing, and narrative development, including materials intended for executives and external audiences.
Experience managing brand positioning, media relations, content strategy, and digital communication platforms.
Familiarity with performance measurement tools and data analysis, including digital marketing metrics and platforms such as Google Analytics.
Prior experience leading or mentoring staff, with the ability to guide teams and manage cross-functional collaboration effectively.
Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field is preferred.
Experience in nonprofit, mission-focused, advocacy, housing, workforce development, community engagement, or fundraising environments is highly valued.
