Application Production Support Specialist (AS400 / iSeries)

Location: Plano, Texas (Onsite)

Employment Type: Contract

Contract Duration: 9 months

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced AS400 / iSeries specialist for an Application Production Support role. The successful candidate will join a global team responsible for managing production systems for Global Markets Technology, focusing on Futures and Options Clearing support. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, a desire to learn and adapt, and the ability to work in a time-sensitive, complex production environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide application support for production systems, working closely with business, development, and infrastructure teams.
  • Manage and lead incident response as required, adapting to shifting priorities.
  • Interact with development and infrastructure teams to manage all changes to the production environment.
  • Analyze logs using UNIX syntax and other system tools to troubleshoot issues.
  • Find solutions for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Build relationships with users while managing production issues and providing support services.
  • Collaborate with senior management and business partners to find solutions.
Required Qualifications

Education: A degree in an engineering or science discipline is required.

Experience: 5+ years of application support experience in the banking or finance industry is required.

Technical Skills:
  • AS400/iSeries, RPG, and CL programming.
  • IBM Connect Direct, Turnover for Change Management, and IBM Advanced Job Scheduler.
  • Linux, SQL (including DB2), Python, Java, and messaging platforms.
  • Monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, and ITRS Geneos.
  • ITIL frameworks (Remedy/ServiceNow) and Jira.
  • Experience with UNIX syntax for log analysis.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Autosys, Ansible, Grafana, and Grid computing.
  • A strong understanding of ITIL concepts around Incident, Problem, Capacity, and Change management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of capacity management and assessment.
  • Stakeholder management experience within a multi-region production support landscape.
Compensation & Benefits

The pay rate for this position is between $63.00 and $68.26 per hour.
