Under general supervision and with regular review, this position supports Systems Engineering activities associated with the development, integration, verification, and sustainment of complex systems. The position applies a software and/or computer engineering background to support requirements development, system architecture, interface definition, functional analysis, integration, and verification activities across hardware and software domains.
Assignments are normally accompanied by general instructions and guidance outlining potential approaches, sources of information, and technical considerations. Work is reviewed regularly for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy, and accuracy. Tasks require independent judgment and discretion in resolving engineering issues of moderate scope and complexity.
The position documents engineering analyses, requirements, interfaces, verification results, and implemented solutions and communicates results to engineering staff and program stakeholders. Contacts are primarily internal, with occasional inter-organization or customer interaction on routine technical matters.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Supports development, analysis, decomposition, allocation, and maintenance of system and subsystem requirements.
- Applies systems engineering principles to analyze and resolve engineering problems involving software, computing systems, hardware/software interfaces, and integrated system functionality.
- Supports functional analysis, system architecture development, interface definition, and system design activities.
- Assists with development and maintenance of interface requirements and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
- Supports requirements traceability from customer and system-level requirements through subsystem, software, and verification requirements.
- Performs system integration, functional testing, troubleshooting, and verification of hardware/software systems using established engineering methods and processes.
- Obtains, evaluates, and analyzes engineering and test data to determine compliance with system requirements.
- Support development of verification methods, procedures, test objectives, and requirement verification evidence.
- Investigates integration issues and coordinates with software, electrical, mechanical, test, and other engineering disciplines to identify and implement solutions.
- Develops and maintains engineering documentation including requirements, technical analyses, system descriptions, interface documentation, verification artifacts, and engineering reports.
- May support requirements and configuration management tools such as DOORS, JAMA, Jira, Confluence, or equivalent engineering tools.
- Participates in technical reviews, working groups, design reviews, and brief technical presentations.
- May provide technical direction to design and/or technical staff for assigned activities.
- Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications- Typically requires a bachelor's or master's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution, and two or more years of engineering experience with a bachelor's degree.
- May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
- Experience or academic background in software development, computer systems, embedded systems, software/hardware integration, or system-level engineering is highly desirable.
- Must have a general understanding of systems engineering concepts, principles, and methods, including requirements development, system architecture, interfaces, integration, verification, and validation.
- Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and the relationship between system-level and software-level requirements is desirable.
- Experience working with requirements management, configuration management, or issue-tracking tools such as DOORS, JAMA, Jira, Confluence, or similar tools is desirable.
- Familiarity with modeling techniques, MBSE concepts, SysML, or system architecture tools is desirable.
- Must possess the ability to understand new technical concepts quickly and apply them accurately in an evolving engineering environment.
- Must be able to organize assignments, coordinate across engineering disciplines, and meet established schedules and technical milestones.
- Good technical communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Must be able to work extended hours as required.
- An EIT (Engineer in Training) certificate is desirable but not required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
- Foreign Language (Korean, Japanese, or Thai) is desirable but not required.
