This is an outstanding opportunity for an SAP Solutions Architect to become exposed to, implement and support SAP S/4HANA on an extremely large global instance.
We are the leading Global Biotech Company in our niche and are looking for an SAP Solutions Architect. We have been in business for 50+ years, are publicly traded, have 7+K global employees, recognized $6.6 billion in revenues (7% increase over previous year), $153 million in profits (32% increase over previous year), have 750+ product patents, released 6 new products in in the past year and are an active philanthropic institution.
We are executing a ground-up greenfield implementation of SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Private Edition. The SAP Solutions Architect will serve as the primary technical authority for the transition from legacy on-premise SAP ECC 6.0 EHP 8 to a modern cloud landscape within the RISE with SAP framework. This role oversees the end-to-end technical strategy, ensuring a “Clean Core” architecture while leveraging LeanIX and Signavio to manage the enterprise landscape and business process transformation.
Strategic Transformation & Architecture Intelligence
- Landscape Visualization with LeanIX: Utilize LeanIX to map the current-state legacy architecture and design the future-state target architecture. Maintain a real-time inventory of IT components to identify dependencies, mitigate risks, and ensure seamless integration with the S/4HANA Digital Core.
- Process Re-engineering (Signavio): Leverage SAP Signavio Process Insights to benchmark legacy ECC performance. Lead Fit-To-Standard workshops to justify the adoption of SAP Best Practices, replacing inefficient legacy workflows with simplified, standard processes.
- Enterprise Roadmap & Governance: Align the technical roadmap with the SAP Activate Methodology. Use the combined power of LeanIX and Signavio to document the digital twin of both the business processes and the technical infrastructure.
Implementation & Clean Core Governance
- Greenfield Execution: Architect the new implementation strategy, leading the data migration workstream using the SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit. Ensure a clean-slate deployment that excludes legacy technical debt.
- Clean Core Enforcement: Establish a strict governance model to minimize modifications. Mandate that all custom business logic is decoupled from the core and deployed on the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
- Modern Extensibility: Define the boundaries for on-stack developer extensibility and side-by-side extensions to ensure the core remains 100% upgrade-stable.
Platform Orchestration (BTP, AI, & Integration)
- BTP Service Management: Oversee the deployment and lifecycle of BTP services, including SAP build for low-code innovation and SAP Analytics Cloud for real-time executive reporting.
- Embedded AI Strategy: Integrate SAP Joule and Embedded AI/ML models into the new S/4HANA business processes to automate high-volume tasks and provide predictive insights.
- API-First Integration: Design a robust, event-driven integration landscape using SAP Integration Suite. Standardize on OData and REST APIs for all external system communications to replace legacy point-to-point connections.
Technical Guardrails & Performance
- Cloud-Ready Development: Enforce Modern Development Paradigms (RAP and Fiori). Utilize the ABAP Test Cockpit (ATC) to automate code quality reviews and ensure compliance with cloud-ready standards.
- Security & Compliance: Architect Identity and Access management (IAM) Frameworks via SAP Cloud Identity Services. Ensure the landscape meets global compliance standards, including FDA and ISO, through automated GRC controls.
- Performance Engineering: Design the HANA in-memory database architecture for scalability. Implement data tiering strategies to optimize the universal journal (ACDOCA) and high-volume tables for peak transactional performance.
Cutover & Global Rollout
- Global Template Governance: Standardize technical objects and processes for international deployment. Manage localized legal and tax requirements through the SAP Document Reporting and Compliance (DRC) framework.
- Master Cutover Strategy: Lead the technical dress rehearsals and final cutover execution. Ensure a seamless transition from the legacy ECC environment to S/4HANA Cloud with minimal business interruption and total data integrity.
Requirements
- Must have 8-10+ years of SAP experience with at least 1 full-lifecycle S/4HANA Greenfield or Brownfield implementation on public or private cloud.
- Must have hands-on experience with SAP Signavio for business process transformation and Fit-to-Standard analysis.
- Proven expertise in SAP BTP, SAP Integration Suite, and SAP Extension Suite to maintain a Clean Core Architecture.
- Proficiency in the SAP Activate Methodology preferably for Greenfield paths and SAP Cloud ALM for project orchestration.
- Understanding of hyperscaler environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) in the context of RISE with SAP.
- Experience with the ABAP Restful Programming Model (RAP), cloud-ready extensions, and SAP Fiori.
- Ability to translate complex technical architecture into business-focused ROI narratives for C-Suite stakeholders.
- Strong leadership skills to manage distributed functional and technical teams during business process re-engineering and data migration phases.
- Strict commitment to a “standard first” approach to minimize technical debt and long-term Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
- Experience within FDA and/or ISO regulated environments a plus
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.
- SAP Certified Professional, SAP S/4HANA Cloud Solutions Architect or Enterprise Architect certifications are a plus.
