Functional Consultant Power Platform (End-to-End Business Process Ownership, AI-Enabled)

Role Overview

• We are seeking a Functional Consultant who owns end-to-end business processes that originate across multiple experience-layer channels and ultimately execute within Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O) as the system of record.
• This role is not limited to requirements gathering and not an F&O-only functional role.
• It is a process-owning, solution-design leadership role, responsible for shaping how business capabilities are exposed through Power Apps and Dataverse, orchestrated through the Power Platform, and executed authoritatively in F&O.
• A critical aspect of this role is designing solutions with AI and hype automation in mind, aligned to the organization s AI strategy and roadmap, ensuring that automation, intelligence, and future AI capabilities are intentionally embedded not bolted on later.
• The consultant acts as the functional owner of the process lifecycle, ensuring consistency, governance, usability, data integrity, and intelligent automation from first customer or agent interaction through final ERP transaction.

Core Accountability: End-to-End Process Ownership

The Functional Consultant is accountable for:

• Designing, governing, and evolving business processes end-to-end
• Ensuring processes work cohesively across:
• Experience-layer channels (apps, portals, agent tools, workflows)
• Power Platform orchestration, automation, and data modeling
• F&O execution and system-of-record enforcement
• Preserving clear system-of-record boundaries while enabling AI-augmented and automated experiences
• Designing processes that mature along the AI roadmap (manual automated AI-augmented)

Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Business Process Design (Primary Responsibility)

• Own functional design for business processes from:
• Initial user or system interaction
• Through Power Apps, Dataverse, automation, and AI-assisted flows
• Into F&O for authoritative processing and persistence
• Define process flow, decision points, validations, handoffs, and automation opportunities across systems.
• Ensure business rules are enforced at the correct layer and support deterministic execution and future AI assistance.
• Serve as the single functional point of accountability for the process across teams and platforms.

Feature Blueprinting & AI-Forward Design Alignment

• Actively participate in and help lead Feature Blueprinting sessions as the primary functional representative.
• Ensure blueprinting explicitly considers:
• Automation opportunities
• AI-assisted decisioning and Copilot touchpoints
• Downstream impacts to Power Platform and F&O
• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Data, and Engineering to align early design to the AI strategy and roadmap.
• Ensure Feature Blueprints clearly articulate:
• End-to-end process flows
• Automation and AI touchpoints
• System-of-record decisions
• Functional responsibilities by layer

Experience Layer, Power Platform & Hyper automation Design (Primary Focus)

• Design experience-layer solutions using:
• Power Apps (Model-Driven and Canvas)
• Dataverse as the orchestration and operational experience layer
• Define user journeys, data models, lifecycle states, validations, and telemetry to support automation at scale.
• Apply hyperautomation principles using Power Automate, event-driven patterns, and intelligent orchestration.
• Ensure solutions are AI-ready, even when AI capabilities are phased in over time.

Dynamics 365 F&O Alignment & Design Facilitation (Secondary Focus)

• Apply functional knowledge of Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations to:
• Understand authoritative process execution and data ownership
• Align experience-layer automation and AI-enabled workflows with ERP controls
• Facilitate functional design sessions within F&O when required, including:
• Defining or refining ERP process flows
• Validating business rules, controls, and transactional behavior
• Coordinating with F&O functional and technical teams on solution approach
• Ensure ERP design decisions:
• Support end-to-end process integrity
• Do not conflict with experience-layer innovation
• Preserve auditability, compliance, and system-of-record authority
• Act as a functional bridge between Power Platform innovation and ERP rigor.

Requirements, Workshops & Functional Artifacts

• Lead workshops focused on:
• Process optimization and automation
• AI-assisted workflow opportunities
• Cross-system alignment and ownership
• Produce high-quality functional artifacts:
• End-to-end process diagrams (with automation and AI annotations)
• Feature Blueprints aligned to the AI roadmap
• User stories with acceptance criteria tied to business and automation outcomes
• Ensure shared understanding and design clarity before build begins.

Delivery Oversight & Continuous Improvement

• Provide functional guidance throughout build, test, and release.
• Validate that delivered solutions:
• Meet functional and process intent
• Deliver automation and efficiency gains
• Remain extensible for future AI enhancements
• Support post-go-live optimization using telemetry, insights, and process feedback.

Required Qualifications

Experience

• 5+ years as a Functional Consultant, Business Process Lead, or Solution Designer.
• 3+ years delivering solutions on Microsoft Power Platform.
• Experience working with Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations as a system of record.
• Demonstrated experience designing automated and AI-aware business processes.

Skills & Expertise

• Strong expertise in:
• Power Apps (Model-Driven and Canvas)
• Dataverse data modeling and security
• Power Automate and orchestration patterns
• Functional understanding of:
• ERP process design and system-of-record enforcement
• AI-assisted workflows and decisioning
• Strong facilitation, communication, and systems-thinking skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience facilitating ERP design sessions in Dynamics 365 F&O.
• Experience designing AI-enabled or Copilot-assisted workflows.
• Power Platform certifications (PL-200, PL-400, PL-600).

Exposure to AI governance or responsible AI frameworks.
