IT Support / Network Support Specialist (Intermediate Level)

Position Description

Seeking an experienced IT Support Specialist to provide on-site and remote technology support across multiple client environments. The organization supports end-user technologies for a large number of educational organizations and maintains a centralized support operation that delivers infrastructure, telecommunications, systems, and service desk support.
This role supports a distributed client environment made up of multiple locations, each staffed with junior and senior network specialists responsible for hardware and software troubleshooting. Supported technologies include, but are not limited to, Chromebooks, PCs, Windows devices, smart boards, tablets, projectors, and other classroom and end-user technologies. Prior experience supporting instructional or end-user technology environments is considered a strong plus.
The selected candidate will report to a Managed IT Team Lead and work closely with technical staff, administrators, and executive-level stakeholders. Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills are essential, as this role requires direct interaction with both technical and non-technical users.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hardware and software troubleshooting within a Windows-based environment
  • Support end-user and classroom technologies including Chromebooks, projectors, smart boards, and tablets
  • Deliver desktop support services and resolve network-related issues
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues involving LAN/WAN environments
  • Work with IP addressing, network troubleshooting tools, and networking fundamentals
  • Support and manage Active Directory tasks such as user account creation and removal
  • Communicate effectively with clients to explain technical issues and solutions clearly

Required Technical Skills & Experience

  • Strong desktop support background
  • Working knowledge of networking principles and troubleshooting techniques
  • Experience working with IP configurations and basic network diagnostics
  • Familiarity with routers, switches, and wireless networking
  • Comfort working in Active Directory environments
  • Experience supporting Windows operating systems

Preferred / Encouraged Experience

  • Proficiency with Windows XP and Windows 7
  • Experience with VMware and server virtualization
  • Ability to install network operating systems and perform basic upgrades
  • Network troubleshooting experience (printers, routers, user/group management)
  • Advanced desktop and workstation troubleshooting
  • Configuration and management of Windows software
  • Experience with server hardware configuration
  • Switch configuration and troubleshooting
  • LAN/WAN experience
  • Basic knowledge of SAN environments
  • Support of virtual server environments
  • Advanced email troubleshooting
  • Advanced workstation setup and installation experience

Skills

Additional Information

  • Industry certifications such as CCNA are a plus but not required

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
