Director of Engineering

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce is working with a client in search of a Director of Engineering to join their team. This position is direct hire and hybrid in NYC.

Summary:
The Director of Engineering will lead multi-disciplinary technical teams to build, scale, and maintain our core software platforms. You will be responsible for the technical roadmap, reliability, and architectural integrity of our ecosystem. Working closely with cross-functional leadership, you will ensure that our engineering standards align with long-term business goals while fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Duties:
* Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a diverse engineering organization, including Tech Leads, Full-Stack Developers, QA, Data Engineers, and SREs
* Delivery Excellence: Oversee the full SDLC to ensure the high-quality, scalable delivery of software solutions
* Architectural Governance: Define and enforce system design principles, engineering best practices, and technical standards across all squads
* Operational Health: Drive platform reliability and performance through robust monitoring, incident management, and modern observability practices
* Strategic Collaboration: Partner with Product, Data, and Infrastructure teams to align technical direction with the broader product roadmap
* Process Evolution: Continuously optimize engineering workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and system resilience to increase technical maturity
* Talent Development: Build and scale high-performing teams, establishing clear accountability and professional growth paths for senior individual contributors

REQUIREMENTS:
* 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with 3+ years managing multiple engineering teams
* Proven track record of delivering scalable, distributed enterprise systems
* Deep expertise in modern system architecture and distributed software design
* Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain rigorous engineering standards
* Experience managing and coaching Tech Leads and Senior Engineers
* Hands-on experience with Cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and CI/CD methodologies
* Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
