Your role

As a Shop Mechanic 1 within the Power Technique business area, you will take on a pivotal role supporting the Specialty Rental Division. This position involves direct engagement in the maintenance, assembly, and repair of a diverse range of industrial equipment and machinery used in rental operations. Precision and quality are at the core of your daily responsibilities, ensuring that each piece of equipment is operationally safe and meets the strict specifications established by our engineering and safety teams.
  • Pipe Fitting Expertise: Accurately install, inspect, and maintain complex piping assemblies featuring tubing and hose elements to guarantee optimal system performance and compliance with fluid and air transfer requirements.
  • Mechanical Fastening: Apply in-depth knowledge of various fasteners, their grades, and technical standards (ASTM, SAE) to assemble equipment parts securely and according to engineering guidelines.
  • Tool Usage & Upkeep: Efficiently operate a range of hand and power tools, ensuring their maintenance for a safe and productive working environment.
  • Safety Culture Ambassador: Adhere rigorously to OSHA protocols and participate actively in all safety initiatives, setting high standards for personal and team safety including the continual use of PPE.
  • Mobile Equipment Operation: Obtain and maintain certifications for safe operation of forklifts, man lifts, and other material handling equipment, enabling smooth workshop logistics.
  • Technical Documentation Interpretation: Skillfully read blueprints and schematic diagrams to carry out precision assembly and maintenance, minimizing errors and downtime.
  • Detailed Documentation: Keep meticulous records of maintenance actions, repairs, and assembly work through notes, photographs, and digital reporting systems.
  • Autonomous Project Management: Demonstrate initiative by managing tasks independently from assignment through execution, communicating progress proactively with supervisors.
  • Basic Welding: Utilize foundational welding methods such as stick and TIG welding on stainless and carbon steel materials to enhance repair quality and effectiveness.
  • Workshop Organization: Maintain an orderly and clean workspace throughout shift activities, optimizing safety and operational efficiency.

  • Physically capable of handling workshop demands including lifting weights up to 50 pounds and performing varied postures such as standing, bending, and sitting.
