Description: Our client is currently seeking a Mainframe Developer Intermediate
Location: Lincoln, NE
The Client is seeking dedicated Application Developer to join our team of performance driven professionals in helping to build the best of applications in support of business units. Agile development methodology is utilized.
This is a Mainframe Developer position that requires strong hands-on coding skills. Candidates will be evaluated on:
- Coding proficiency
- Problem-solving abilities
- Technical knowledge and experience
The selection process includes assessments and onsite interviews.
Important Note: Candidates who are selected to move forward in the hiring process will be required to participate in an onsite interview.
This job will have the following responsibilities:
- Explore and gain a thorough understanding of the business.
- Troubleshoot problems and provide support on existing products and services.
- Work as part of a software development team in the implementation of projects.
- Perform daily tasks of analysis, programming and testing as needed.
- Assist with, capturing business requirements, design, system architecture and development.
- Maintain legacy applications (minor new development) in Micro Focus Cobol, Cobol and CICS that interact with the Information Systems.
- Perform front-end, middle-tier and back-end development.
Qualifications & Requirements: - Qualified applicants will have a bachelor's degree in computer science or hold a Technical Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent combination of education and minimum 5+ years development experience).
- Must have most recent experience within the last year coding programs in COBOL.
- Experience with SQL utilizing DB2 accessing by programs, writing queries in QMF and creating tables is required.
- Experience with JCL and job scheduling is required.
- Experience in software development utilizing Agile with SCRUM is desired but not required.
- Experience with:
- Cobol and CICS. (candidates MUST be able to develop in COBOL AND CICS - no exceptions)
- Job Control Language (JCL) and job scheduling.
- IBM mainframe (z/OS).
- TSO
- All aspects of the software development lifecycle and workflow.
- Visual Studio for source control.
- SQL (Structured Query Language).
- DB2
- QMF
- XPEDITER
- Preferences:
- Experience developing in MicroFocus Cobol using App Master Builder and Native COBOL will be given high preference.
- Experience with application development in highway inventory systems.
- Experience with SQL Server 2012 and higher.
- Experience with designing and building secure ASP.NET applications would give candidate ability to program in C# as well as COBOL.
- Experience with Web/Windows Services.
- Experience with SSRS reports.
- Experience with Agile development methodology of 2+ years.
- Experience with Mainframe Migration (re-hosting or re-platform).
- Extremely detailed oriented and able to follow Department standards, methodologies, principles and processes.
- Skilled in troubleshooting and weighing relative costs and benefits of potential actions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Candidates must be local to Lincoln, Nebraska, or willing to relocate/commute.
- Local candidates are preferred for this onsite role.
- All interviews will be conducted onsite.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
