Mainframe Print Systems Specialist / z/OS Print Systems Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a Mainframe Print Systems Specialist with strong expertise in IBM z/OS, Infoprint Server (IPS), mainframe printing, and print infrastructure. The candidate will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and potentially migrating enterprise mainframe print environments.

< dir="auto" data-start="422" data-end="465">Key Responsibilities & Required Skills

Very strong knowledge and understanding of IBM Infoprint Server (IPS) and all its components.
Strong expertise in mainframe printing and print formatting, including:
- Form creation
- Fonts
- Layouts
- Overlays
- Page Definitions (PAGEDEFs)
- Form Definitions (FORMDEFs)
- Print formatting and related print-processing components
Solid working knowledge of current mainframe print products, such as ESF, VPS, and similar solutions, with the ability to understand and assess print-system migration requirements.
General knowledge of RACF and mainframe security concepts.
Strong knowledge of networking technologies, particularly TCP/IP and VTAM.
General working knowledge of JCL.
Strong knowledge of z/OS UNIX System Services (USS).
Strong understanding and hands-on experience with REXX scripting.
Working knowledge of IBM z/OS architecture and system operations.
Working knowledge of software/product installation and configuration on z/OS.
Strong knowledge of SDSF, JES2, and z/OS system operations.
Good understanding of remote printing technologies and processes.
Good working knowledge of remote and local print servers outside the mainframe environment.
Troubleshoot print-related issues across mainframe, network, and distributed print environments.
Support integration between z/OS print systems and enterprise/non-mainframe print servers.
Assist with print infrastructure modernization and migration activities, including analysis of existing configurations and dependencies.
Collaborate with system programmers, network teams, application teams, and infrastructure teams to resolve printing and connectivity issues.
