As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Technology, you apply deep knowledge of software, applications, and technical processes within the infrastructure engineering discipline. We are seeking an experienced Cloud Database Administrator (DBA) with hands-on experience managing and optimizing large-scale database environments. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in a range of database services and their surrounding infrastructure. Continue to evolve your technical and cross-functional knowledge outside of your aligned domain of expertise.

Job responsibilities

  • Understand the firm's database infrastructure environment and technology modernization pathway. Work with application teams to help them migrate to the latest database products and versions on our private cloud or onto the public cloud. Once on these platforms you will use your expertise to help maximize the performance and resiliency of the application workloads.
  • Demonstrate experience in database administration ( Oracle , PostgreSQL ) including migration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Identify opportunities to improve resiliency, availability, high performing platforms in Public Cloud using JPMC best practices
  • Troubleshoot and resolve critical database issues, including SQL query tuning, indexing, and deadlock resolution.
  • Implement database networking, monitoring tools, and proactive alerting solutions e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, Datadog / Dynatrace
  • Utilize expertise with cloud database platforms such as AWS RDS, AWS RedShift, Redis DB along with good understanding and experience in AWS and Terraform.
  • Support application teams in troubleshooting and resolution of production database issues , optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating to continually improve.
  • Drive, support, and deliver on suitable strategy to operate on AWS computing & web services (e.g., AWS EC2, AWS S3, AWS RDS, AWS ECS, EKS , Cloudwatch)
  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for database deployment using Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles
  • Collaborate with developers to refine database schemas, optimize queries, and improve application performance.
  • Ensure 24/7 availability and reliability for mission-critical systems through proactive monitoring and maintenance.

    Support release deployments, maintenance windows, and database upgrades after hours and weekends as needed.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on infrastructure engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Expert level experience working on enterprise database technologies, both sql and no sql databases.
  • Strong experience working with services on Multi Cloud infrastructure. For example, AWS, OCI , Azure or Private Cloud.
  • Proven experience migrating data across different database products (i.e Oracle , Postgres , MongoDB ) , leveraging tools like Goldengate , AWS DMS ..etc
  • Experience working in a tier 1 financial services organization or similar industry.
  • Hands-on experience designing and deploying resilient infrastructure platforms using engineered patterns
  • Experience in collaborating with application development teams to provide guidance on the best use of database services and infrastructure
  • Experience working alongside DevOps engineering or CI/CD concepts

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and operational procedures
