Summary

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
• Responsible for elicitation, analysis, and documentation of business requirements.
• Research and exploration of user requirements, costs, and benefits in support of documentation required for the demand management process.
• Responsible for analyzing the business needs to identify new processes and process improvements that will meet those needs.
• Documents current business processes and models to define requirements and/or gaps.
• Analyze detailed system factors including input/output requirements, information and paper flow, hardware, and software needs.
• Analyze “soft" system factors including roles, responsibilities, policy, culture, etc.
• Evaluate the impact of potential software and process changes on the organization.
• Develop and facilitate groups as necessary in pursuit of eliciting and defining requirements.
• Assist in the creation of the business case documentation.
• Understanding of architectural consistency and usability standards.
• Defines and develops user test cases and validates test results during testing.
• Executes unit and functional test cases.
• May conduct system demonstrations and training sessions, as well as participate in design/review of training content.
• Plays a third level support role by helping to troubleshoot and resolve issues with production systems.
• Participates in associate meetings and communicates any concerns to management.


QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business, or another related field or equivalent work experience.
• Proven experience leading data migration requirements from legacy systems into a new ERP (Sage X3) environment
• Strong hands-on expertise in requirements elicitation, documentation, and management, with emphasis on data mapping, transformation rules, and validation
• Deep understanding of data structures, data quality, and migration best practices, with the ability to identify gaps and risks early
• Self-driven and accountable professional with strong stakeholder management and communication skills, able to drive outcomes with minimal oversight
• Working knowledge of Confluence and JIRA.
• Experience in any of the following business areas is desired: Sales operations, order entry, accounting, finance, procurement, warehouse operations, order management, and order fulfillment.
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ business analysis or systems analysis experience is preferred.
• Bonus: Sage X3 experience (ERP).

Job Title: SAP Technical Support Engineer

Location: REMOTE

Duration: 12 Months

 

Scope of the project:

The Client Reporting and Analytics Team is requesting the services of a senior consultant to assist in the design and development of Business Objects dashboards and reports in the SAP environment. The consultant will provide technical analysis and expertise to optimize universes and data structures; coordinate the development of functional specifications; design and develop requested reports and dashboards in a quality manner; create detailed documentation that facilitates the use and future modification of these reports and dashboards; and provide extensive knowledge transfer sessions for IT and business users in the use of Business Objects tools and techniques. The Client has implemented the following modules of SAP across all state agencies: FI, FM, HR, Payroll, SRM, CRM, Treasury Management, BW, and Business Objects. The consultant will design, develop, edit, and maintain queries using Business Objects tools and techniques to support reporting requirements and data integration tasks across a broad spectrum of applications and uses. The consultant will coordinate activities with Client to ensure decisions, recommendations, and work products follow best practices and established standards.

 

Daily Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Interact with Client personnel and agencies to gather/develop functional and technical requirements and translate them into proposed business intelligence applications and reporting solutions.
  • Coordinate with Client personnel and agencies to design, develop, and maintain complex business intelligence reporting and analytical solutions using various Business Objects tools and techniques.
  • Create and present prototypes to users as well as propose alternative solutions to legacy reports using different technologies and development techniques.
  • Create requirements documents for approval by system owners and business users to be used in the development of reports and dashboards.
  • Model, design, develop, test, and implement approved solutions in accordance with business reporting requirements.
  • Provide daily support of the existing Business Objects reports and universes with a focus on performing root cause analysis and finding ways to increase efficiencies, improve user satisfaction, and reduce cost/time to maintain.
  • Perform optimization reviews to consistently improve the universes, data structures, and to improve and streamline processes regarding data flow and data quality to improve data accuracy, viability, and value.
  • Create detailed documentation, including data dictionaries, during the creation or modification of universes, reports, and dashboards.
  • Assist business users in downloading and using data from Business Warehouse and Business Objects data to Crystal reports, dashboards, Excel, etc., for analysis and dissemination to internal and external users.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert assisting STO with defining and developing treasury management, debt management, and investment management reports.
  • Work with Client personnel and agencies to determine the best approach to publish new dashboards to agency websites to promote transparency and access to information by the public.
  • Work with Client and DTO personnel to design, test, and implement a database to allow for the merging of Client and Non-Client data for the purposes of generating Business Objects reports and dashboards.
  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive Tableau dashboards and reports to support business intelligence and analytics needs
  • Manage Tableau Server/Online environments, including architecting, upgrading, publishing, security, user access, and data source management
  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL workflows using Microsoft SSIS, Azure Synapse, etc.

 

Required Skills (rank in order of Importance):

  • 5+ Years of Experience with Business Objects architecture and components, and the design of complex web intelligence reports and dashboards.
  • 5+ Years of Experience with design and development of business intelligence applications and reporting solutions in an SAP environment.
  • 5+ Years of Experience developing complex web intelligence reports, dashboards, Crystal Reports.
  • 5+ Years of Tableau Administration experience
  • 3+ Years of Experience in the Public Sector
  • Bachelor’s Degree

 

Preferred Skills (rank in order of Importance):

  • Preference will be given to qualified candidates who have a working knowledge of Client and existing state reporting requirements and standards.
  • Experience with Microsoft SSIS (ETL Development and Data Integration)

 

Additional Skills

  • Must have the ability to translate complex business requirements into technical requirements and ultimately into project deliverables.
  • Must demonstrate a strong understanding of reporting and analytics principles, theories, concepts, and techniques, including creating reports/dashboards that enhance the user’s experience with SAP.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of dimensional modeling and data warehousing concepts and methodologies.
  • Have sound knowledge of business warehouse tools, techniques, structures, and connectivity/interaction with Business Objects.

 

Required Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, mathematics, engineering, or related discipline;
