Job Title: Senior Cisco UCS Infrastructure Engineer / Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Location: Remote
Duration: 6 Months

Position Overview:
This role is focused on Cisco UCS infrastructure modernization, hardware lifecycle management, VMware integration, and next-generation data center technologies. The selected engineer will work closely with infrastructure, networking, virtualization, and operations teams to drive key transformation initiatives while maintaining platform stability and performance.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical engineer/SME with deep Cisco UCS expertise who can operate independently, solve complex infrastructure challenges, and provide guidance during critical technology transitions.

Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary technical SME for Cisco UCS infrastructure supporting a large enterprise environment.
Provide engineering leadership for UCS platform design, deployment, administration, and lifecycle management.
Support ongoing infrastructure modernization efforts while maintaining operational stability. Hardware Refresh & Deployment
Lead planning, design, implementation, a nd validation activities for Cisco UCS hardware refresh initiatives.
Execute build, migration, testing, and deployment activities associated with new UCS infrastructure.
Support installation, integration, and commissioning of newly deployed hardware. Cisco Intersight & UCS Management
Design and implement Cisco Intersight Managed Mode (IMM) environments.
Manage and support both UCS Manager (UCSM) and Intersight-managed infrastructures.
Develop and maintain policies, profiles, templates, and operational standards. VMware & Cloud Foundation Integration
Support architecture and deployment initiatives involving VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).
Collaborate on VMware vSAN implementation and ongoing optimization efforts.
Assist with virtualization platform integration and infrastructure modernization projects. Fabric, Networking & Storage Engineering
Design, configure, and optimize:
Cisco UCS Fabric Interconnects
Compute environments
VLANs and VSANs
Server and service profiles
Storage connectivity and interfaces
Troubleshoot complex networking and infrastructure challenges across UCS and VMware environments. Next-Generation Data Center Technologies
Support integration of modern storage technologies, including:
VMware vSAN
NVMe over TCP/IP (NVMe-oF)
Converged and hyperconverged infrastructure platforms
Participate in platform evolution and strategic infrastructure planning.

Requirements:
8+ years of experience supporting enterprise data center infrastructure environments.
5+ years of hands-on Cisco UCS engineering experience.
Deep expertise with:
Cisco UCS Manager (UCSM)
Cisco Intersight Managed Mode (IMM)
Cisco UCS Fabric Interconnects
Cisco B-Series and C-Series servers
Strong UCS networking background, including data center networking, Ethernet, VLANs, switching technologies, and storage connectivity.
Proven experience supporting VMware infrastructure in large-scale enterprise environments.
Hands-on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), preferably VCF 9.x deployments and operations.
Strong understanding of VMware vSphere, vSAN, and virtualization architecture.
Experience working with NSX networking concepts and software-defined networking technologies as part of modern data center architectures.
Familiarity with emerging storage technologies, including NVMe over IP (NVMe-oF/NVMe-TCP) and their integration within VMware and Cisco UCS environments.
Experience supporting large-scale enterprise or service provider environments with mission-critical infrastructure requirements.
Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and infrastructure design skills.
Ability to lead complex deployments, serve as a technical escalation point, and operate independently with minimal oversight.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.1 architecture, deployment, or upgrade activities.
Experience supporting large-scale VMware modernization or cloud transformation initiatives.
Cisco, VMware, or related infrastructure certifications (CCNP, CCIE, VCP, VCAP, etc.).
Experience with contact center, unified communications, or highly available 24x7 production environments.
Experience performing large-scale hardware refreshes and infrastructure migrations with minimal business disruption
