Summary

VDOT Business Analyst

Introduction: As a VDOT Business Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing complex processes and systems, gathering requirements, and ensuring the successful implementation of IT projects. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand business needs, translate them into technical requirements, and assist in testing and quality assurance processes.

Responsibilities:

Review and analyze complex processes and systems, identifying root causes of problems
Conduct stakeholder interviews and workshops to gather business needs
Translate business requirements into application requirements and user stories
Work with enterprise software including Oracle and SQL Server
Perform system integration testing and assist with User Acceptance Testing
Create and document Business Process Modeling diagrams

Analytical Thinking: Break down complex systems into manageable parts
Technical Proficiency: Enterprise software (Oracle, SQL Server), SQL, APIs
Requirements Gathering: Stakeholder interviews, workshops, clear documentation
Azure DevOPS: Product backlog, Epics, Features, User Stories, Tasks, Test Plans
Agile/Waterfall: Experience with Agile/Scrum (including SAFe) AND Waterfall projects
Communication: Translate tech talk to business users and business talk to developers
Documentation: Strong writing skills and presentation delivery
Conflict Resolution: Handle pushback, negotiate priorities, resolve conflict diplomatically
Business Process Modeling: Swim Lane and Flow Chart Diagrams
User Adoption: Manage system/process rollouts

What You''ll Bring:

5+ years of Business Analyst experience in IT software/application projects
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with enterprise software (Oracle, SQL Server)
Understanding of databases, APIs, and data flow
Proven experience with Azure DevOPS (TFS)
Agile/Scrum (including SAFe) AND Waterfall project experience
Ability to translate between technical and business stakeholders
Strong documentation and presentation skills
Experience with business process modeling and user adoption management
