Contract Specialist - IT ContractsLocation: Houston, TX (Onsite 3 days/week)
Contract: 12-month contract (possibility of extension or conversion)
OverviewWe are seeking an experienced
Contract Specialist with strong
IT contract negotiation expertise to support a leading oil & gas organization in Houston, TX. This role is responsible for drafting, redlining, negotiating, and managing IT-related contracts to support complex projects. The Contract Specialist will work closely with engineers, project managers, legal teams, and vendors to ensure all agreements align with company standards and protect organizational interests.
This role requires hands-on experience with
redlining, vendor negotiations, and deep familiarity with IT agreements-including SaaS, software licensing, professional services, data licensing, hardware, telecom, SOWs, and order forms.
Key Responsibilities- Redline and negotiate terms and conditions for a variety of IT-related contracts, including Professional Services, software licenses, SaaS, hardware, telecom agreements, data licensing, Statements of Work (SOWs), and Order Forms.
- Partner with internal stakeholders-such as technical leads, risk management, tax, and legal-to ensure contract language aligns with project requirements and organizational policies.
- Work with outside counsel as needed to review and finalize contract terms.
- Ensure all agreements are fair, compliant, and support the company's operational and strategic goals.
- Manage the contract lifecycle, from initial review through execution, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Support oil & gas project teams by ensuring contracts meet technical, financial, and operational needs.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree required.
- 5+ years of direct experience negotiating and redlining IT agreements.
- Proven ability to negotiate terms and conditions with vendors and contractors.
- Strong understanding of IT procurement and contract structures (SaaS, licensing, SOWs, hardware, telecom, etc.).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously.
Work Environment- Hybrid schedule - onsite 3 days per week in Houston, TX.
- 12-month contract with strong potential for extension or conversion based on performance and business needs.
