Senior AWS Cloud Engineer
Location: Franklin, TN
Work Arrangement: Hybrid / Onsite
Salary: $140,000-$150,000 annually

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior AWS Cloud Engineer with strong hands-on DevOps expertise to help design, automate, operate, and secure a growing AWS cloud environment.
This is a senior-level technical position supporting both customer-facing and internal applications. The Senior AWS Cloud Engineer will focus on building reliable and scalable cloud infrastructure, improving CI/CD pipelines, automating operational processes, strengthening cloud security, and supporting ongoing modernization initiatives.
The ideal candidate brings deep AWS experience, strong Infrastructure as Code and automation skills, and the ability to troubleshoot complex production issues. What You'll Be Doing
- Design, build, operate, and continuously improve AWS cloud infrastructure supporting customer-facing and internal applications.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, or similar technologies.
- Build, enhance, and support CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments.
- Automate repeatable operational processes using scripting and AWS-native services.
- Support AWS account architecture, IAM, networking, compute, storage, monitoring, backup, and security services.
- Design and support highly available, resilient, scalable, and self-healing cloud environments.
- Partner with application, infrastructure, security, and business teams to deliver scalable and reliable cloud solutions.
- Monitor AWS environments for performance, availability, security, cost, and overall operational health.
- Configure and improve logging, metrics, dashboards, alerting, and incident response processes.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues involving AWS infrastructure, applications, deployments, networking, and integrations.
- Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and problem management.
- Strengthen cloud security through least-privilege access, encryption, secure configuration, vulnerability remediation, logging, and governance controls.
- Help establish AWS standards, architectural patterns, technical documentation, and operational runbooks.
- Support cloud migration, modernization, and platform improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort, optimize cloud costs, improve deployment quality, and increase platform reliability.
- Serve as a senior technical resource and subject matter expert for AWS, DevOps, cloud automation, and operational engineering.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Systems Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 4+ years of hands-on AWS experience supporting production environments.
- Strong experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Route 53, RDS, Lambda, EKS/ECS, ELB/ALB, Systems Manager, Secrets Manager, and AWS Backup.
- Strong hands-on AWS networking experience, including VPCs, subnets, route tables, security groups, NACLs, VPNs, NAT gateways, private endpoints, and load balancers.
- Strong Infrastructure as Code experience, preferably with Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
- Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, AWS CodePipeline, or AWS CodeBuild.
- Strong scripting and automation skills with Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages.
- Experience with Git-based source control and modern branching and release practices.
- Hands-on Linux systems administration experience.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability platforms such as CloudWatch, Datadog, New Relic, Splunk, ELK/OpenSearch, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure, application, deployment, performance, and networking issues.
- Strong understanding of cloud security best practices, including IAM, MFA, least privilege, encryption, patching, vulnerability remediation, logging, and audit readiness.
- Understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, backup/recovery, RTO/RPO, horizontal scaling, load balancing, and resilient architecture patterns.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with engineering teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and leadership.
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting Windows and/or .NET environments.
- Experience with containerized workloads using EKS or ECS.
- Experience contributing to AWS cloud migrations and large-scale modernization initiatives.
- Experience implementing cloud cost optimization and governance practices.
