Senior Quality Assurance Automation Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior QA Automation Tester to support quality assurance for web-based applications. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in both manual and automated testing, with a proven ability to develop, implement, and maintain automation frameworks and test suites.

This role involves collaborating with cross-functional project teams throughout the software testing lifecycle, from test planning and design through execution, defect management, and reporting. The successful candidate will be comfortable analyzing business and application requirements, establishing automation strategies from the ground up, and delivering reliable testing solutions in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and execute test strategies, test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and automated test scripts.
• Build, implement, and maintain test automation frameworks and test suites for web-based applications.
• Perform functional and non-functional testing, including accessibility, usability, integration, regression, performance, and system testing.
• Test web applications developed using technologies such as Java, Node.js, .NET, and Power BI.
• Develop and execute API and backend automation tests, including testing web services and service-oriented architecture (SOA) interfaces.
• Translate business requirements, use cases, and stakeholder feedback into comprehensive test cases.
• Conduct manual and automated testing using sound QA engineering practices.
• Manage test execution, document results, communicate findings, and track defects through resolution.
• Use SQL queries to validate database content, data accuracy, and data integrity.
• Apply source code management practices to maintain automation code and support collaborative development.
• Integrate automated tests with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes.
• Research and evaluate test automation tools and contribute to implementing appropriate solutions.
• Collaborate with developers, business stakeholders, and other QA professionals to reproduce, investigate, and resolve reported issues.
• Maintain clear technical documentation and share QA knowledge and best practices with the team.
• Support critical production issues, scheduled maintenance, and emergency testing when required, including approved overtime or standby duties.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in Quality Assurance and software testing.
• 5+ years of experience in test automation for web applications using tools such as Playwright, Selenium WebDriver, or comparable technologies.
• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience designing, developing, and maintaining modular, data-driven automation frameworks.
• Experience implementing the Page Object Model (POM) and customizing automation frameworks to meet application requirements.
• Strong knowledge of XPath, CSS selectors, and the ability to create customized XPath expressions.
• Experience developing test data strategies and managing test data for automated testing.
• Practical experience with API testing using tools such as Postman, Swagger, or equivalent tools.
• Strong SQL skills and experience testing SQL Server, Oracle, or comparable relational databases.
• Experience with source code management tools such as GitHub.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, Xray, or comparable test management and collaboration tools.
• Experience testing database content, integrations, APIs, and multiple application interfaces.
• Familiarity with AWS and cloud-based technologies.
• Extensive experience working in Agile development environments.
• Strong understanding of QA methodologies, software development lifecycles, and structured testing practices.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and technical documentation skills.
• Ability to reproduce reported defects, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality results within project deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience testing web applications built with Java, Python, .NET, AngularJS, JavaScript, React, or other single-page application frameworks.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.
• Experience testing and evaluating vendor-supplied software.
• Experience with education-related or financial applications and systems supporting public releases.
• Experience working on large-scale projects with diverse stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to adapt to changing requirements, production issues, emergency requests, and project priorities.
• Strong ownership, initiative, problem-solving skills, and a demonstrated willingness to learn.
• Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential information.
