Summary

The Cloud FinOps Analyst is the execution and analytical engine of Customer's AWS Cost Optimization engagement, delivered by . Operating offshore, this role provides the analytical depth and delivery bandwidth that accelerates every phase of the engagement from initial CUR data processing and tagging audits to billing alert configuration, dashboard builds, and ongoing monitoring support. The analyst works closely with the onshore Senior Cloud FinOps Consultant and reports to the Engagement Project Manager. Additionally, the client also has a private data center with VMWare. Experience with cost analysis of a private cloud is a big plus.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of experience in cloud cost analysis, cloud billing operations, or a FinOps analyst role.
  • Hands-on proficiency with AWS cost tooling: Cost and Usage Reports (CUR), Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, and Cost Anomaly Detection.
  • Strong data analysis skills; ability to work with large CUR datasets to extract meaningful cost patterns and anomalies.
  • Experience configuring billing alerts, budget guardrails, and anomaly detection in an AWS environment.
  • Familiarity with AWS tagging mechanics, tag policy enforcement, and cost attribution by tag.
  • Experience identifying and documenting idle/waste resources: unattached EBS, orphaned snapshots, idle EC2 instances, and unused Elastic IPs.
  • Proficiency with dashboarding and reporting tools (AWS Cost Explorer, QuickSight, or a third-party FinOps platform).
  • Strong written communication skills for producing reports, cleanup logs, and tracking documentation consumed by onshore consultants and client stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently in an offshore capacity with reliable availability for overlap hours with the onshore team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or FinOps Certified Practitioner (FinOps Foundation).
  • Experience with one or more third-party FinOps platforms: nOps, Finout, CloudZero, Apptio Cloudability, or ProsperOps.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes cost concepts (namespaces, workload attribution) and exposure to OpenCost or Kubecost.
  • Scripting or automation skills (Python, Bash, or similar) to accelerate tagging remediation or data processing tasks.
  • Background in healthcare technology or regulated cloud environments.
