Senior FinOps Lead / IT Financial Operations Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior FinOps Lead to support our client’s IT organization in establishing financial governance and cost management practices as they prepare for a large-scale cloud transformation.

This role will be responsible for building the FinOps framework from the ground up, including cost modeling, budgeting, financial forecasting, and governance for future cloud adoption. The ideal candidate will partner with IT leadership, finance, and architecture teams to ensure cost transparency and financial accountability throughout the modernization journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and implement FinOps practices, governance, and financial accountability models within the IT organization.
• Build cost models and financial forecasts for upcoming cloud migration initiatives.
• Collaborate with enterprise architects and infrastructure teams to evaluate the financial impact of technology decisions.
• Develop TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) and ROI models comparing on-premise vs cloud environments.
• Create IT budgeting, cost allocation, and forecasting frameworks aligned with business goals.
• Implement showback/chargeback models to provide cost transparency across departments.
• Partner with finance teams on IT financial planning, budgeting cycles, and variance analysis.
• Evaluate and recommend FinOps tools, governance policies, and cost management processes ahead of cloud adoption.
• Provide leadership and guidance to IT teams on cost-efficient infrastructure and resource planning.
• Present financial insights and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in FinOps, IT financial management, or technology cost governance.
• Strong experience with IT infrastructure cost management and financial planning.
• Experience supporting cloud migration planning (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
• Deep understanding of TCO modeling, cost allocation, budgeting, and forecasting for IT environments.
• Experience collaborating with finance, procurement, and technology teams.
• Strong analytical and stakeholder communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building FinOps programs or IT financial governance from scratch.
• Certification such as FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP).
• Experience in retail or large enterprise IT environments.
• Knowledge of cloud pricing models and migration cost optimization strategies.
