Location: Norfolk, VA

SUMMARY: WR has an opportunity for an RF Engineer, Lead to support the design, analysis, testing, and integration of RF systems and technologies. This position is responsible for evaluating system performance, conducting RF spectrum analysis, troubleshooting system issues, and developing solutions to meet mission and customer requirements. The selected candidate will work independently on complex engineering assignments, support system verification and validation activities, and may serve as a technical lead for project tasks and junior engineering personnel.

Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Independently design electronic circuits, components, and integrated systems utilizing ferroelectric, nonlinear, dielectric, phosphorescent, photoconductive, and thermoelectric properties of materials.
  • Independently design test control apparatus and equipment, determine procedures for testing products, and direct engineering personnel in the fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment.
  • Direct field operations and maintenance of electronic installations.
  • Evaluate operational systems and recommend design modifications to eliminate causes of malfunctions or accommodate changes in system requirements.
  • Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Provide technical direction to less experienced personnel as needed.
  • Assist in the evaluation, selection, training, and development of staff.
  • Lead and direct limited tasks assigned to junior personnel.
  • Perform digital RF spectrum analysis and testing to ensure system performance and design viability.
  • Analyze, develop, modify, test, and maintain RF systems and associated infrastructure.
  • Verify and validate system performance to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Diagnose RF system issues and recommend improvements for existing and new systems.
  • Support system design, development, integration, and testing activities.
  • Work independently on complex technical problems and may serve as a technical lead for project tasks.

Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Six (6)+ years of full-time professional experience in systems engineering, with at least two (2) years of system-level experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Requirements definition
    • System design parameters
    • Concepts of operation
    • Risk assessment
    • Productivity studies and analyses
    • Performance analyses
    • Test and evaluation
    • Post-delivery support
  • Experience performing RF analysis using MATLAB, including RF, communications, and signal processing toolkits (or similar RF analysis tools).
  • Experience working in Linux-based environments.
