Business Analyst 3

Location: Lansing, MI - Hybrid

Schedule: Onsite Tuesday & Wednesday

Duration: 12-Month Contract

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst 3 to support enterprise IT projects and business process initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in business analysis, requirements gathering, Agile/Scrum methodologies, process analysis, QA, and project documentation.

This role will work closely with business stakeholders, Product Owners, Project Managers, developers, QA teams, vendors, and other technical teams. The selected candidate will also support ScrumMaster activities, Agile adoption, backlog management, and transition of projects into long-term maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, validate, and document clear, actionable, and testable business requirements.
• Facilitate requirements-gathering sessions with technical and business stakeholders.
• Analyze and document as-is and to-be business processes, workflows, systems, and data.
• Create and maintain epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, and product backlogs.
• Partner with Product Owners to prioritize and manage Agile backlogs.
• Support ScrumMaster responsibilities and facilitate Agile ceremonies.
• Develop and maintain requirements, process, technical, and project documentation.
• Create test plans in collaboration with business stakeholders and support QA activities.
• Collaborate with developers, QA testers, UI/UX teams, solution architects, DBAs, vendors, and other cross-functional teams.
• Evaluate the business impact of changes to project scope, requirements, and processes.
• Ensure requirements and deliverables align with project objectives, schedules, scope, and business needs.
• Support information governance and ensure appropriate stakeholders are involved in data-related requirements.
• Identify and help resolve business and IT issues within the BA function.
• Establish repeatable processes to support long-term application and project maintenance.
• Mentor business teams on Agile practices and help promote sustainable Agile processes.
• Support project transition from implementation through ongoing maintenance.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst.
• 5+ years of experience working with Agile methodologies and tools.
• 5+ years of experience creating and managing:
  • Epics
  • Features
  • User Stories
  • Product Backlogs
  • Acceptance Criteria
• Strong understanding of Business Analysis, QA, and Software Development roles and processes.
• Experience performing as-is/to-be process analysis and documentation.
• Experience with requirements gathering, business process analysis, and documentation.
• Working knowledge of Quality Assurance and software testing processes.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience developing product roadmaps.
• 3+ years of experience with project management and Agile methodologies.
• 3+ years of experience with BA/design tools such as Figma and Visio.
• 2+ years of hands-on QA experience.
• Previous experience serving as a ScrumMaster.
• Experience with JIRA and/or Monday.com.
• Experience collaborating with external vendors and cross-functional IT teams.
• Strong facilitation, mentoring, communication, analytical, and documentation skills.
