Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to support database administration, architecture, performance optimization, infrastructure planning, and operational activities across enterprise database environments.
The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience with DB2 for z/OS, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, GIS, and mainframe environments, along with strong knowledge of JCL, COBOL, CICS, RACF, ISPF, and z/OS administration. The role will also involve database design, performance monitoring, SQL reviews, technical documentation, infrastructure coordination, and mentoring of technical staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day database administration, maintenance, and operational support.
- Plan, design, implement, and maintain database structures and solutions.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize database performance.
- Support DB2 for z/OS, SQL Server, Oracle, and GIS database environments.
- Perform SQL code reviews and provide recommendations for performance and efficiency.
- Support database upgrades, catalog maintenance, backup/recovery, and point-in-time recovery activities.
- Develop and maintain database administration procedures, standards, and technical documentation.
- Assist with infrastructure planning, implementation, and database-related technical initiatives.
- Participate in disaster recovery, change management, and infrastructure implementation activities.
- Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to resolve database and system issues.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and mentoring to database and technical staff.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of combined database administration experience with:
- DB2 for z/OS
- Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 / 2012
- Oracle 10g or later
- Advanced experience administering, integrating, monitoring, and tuning DB2 for z/OS.
- Strong experience with DB2 upgrades, catalog maintenance, and point-in-time recovery.
- Advanced knowledge of JCL and z/OS environments.
- Experience with CA GEN, ISPF, and ASG Scheduler.
- Strong COBOL knowledge and experience with DB2 monitoring tools.
- Experience supporting z/OS started tasks, RACF, CICS, IOF, AFOPER commands, and z/OS exits.
- Strong experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server administration and performance management.
- Working knowledge of Windows Server, SSMS, SSRS, SSIS, and Azure.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

- Experience supporting integrated enterprise database infrastructure.
- Experience with financial management applications.
- Familiarity with integrated application environments.
- Experience working in large-scale public-sector or enterprise environments.
