Job Title: Database Lead with Linux

Job Location: West Des Moines, IA

Job Type: Contract

Job Overview:

Lead database and Linux administration activities across enterprise environments, ensuring high availability, performance optimization, and secure system operations.
Manage database platforms, support infrastructure operations, and drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirement/Must Have:

Strong hands-on experience with MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL administration.
Solid expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration and troubleshooting.
Experience with Bash scripting and automation tools.
Knowledge of virtualization and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate datacenter operations including vendor management for infrastructure setup and maintenance.
Install, configure, upgrade, and manage SQL Server and PostgreSQL databases.
Perform performance tuning including query optimization, indexing, and execution plan analysis.
Implement and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
Manage database security, roles, permissions, and auditing.
Perform backup and restore operations using appropriate tools and strategies.
Monitor and troubleshoot database performance, replication, and connectivity issues.
Monitor system performance and ensure optimal utilization of resources.
Troubleshoot OS-level issues related to CPU, memory, storage, and network.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and system security configurations.
Configure and maintain network services including SSH, NTP, DNS, FTP, and HTTP.
Develop and maintain automation scripts and configuration management playbooks.
Support Linux systems in virtualized and cloud environments.
Collaborate with application teams for deployments and incident resolution.
Maintain documentation including system configurations and runbooks.
Participate in on-call rotation and respond to production incidents.

Qualification And Education:

Red Hat certification such as RHCSA or RHCE preferred.

Experience:

8+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server and PostgreSQL DBA.
Experience working in enterprise production environments preferred.
Experience with automation tools such as Ansible preferred.
