Sr. Network Engineer

The Senior Network Engineer serves as the technical authority for enterprise-wide connectivity. This role focuses on balancing high-performance data delivery with rigorous security compliance across diverse sectors, from finance to industrial manufacturing. They lead the architecture of LAN, WAN, and cloud networks while ensuring all systems are hardened against internal and external threats, and ensure high-performance connectivity, robust security, and scalability for local (LAN), wide area (WAN), and cloud environments. This is a fully remote position, although there might be occasional travel required to client sites for major project milestones or deployments.

Core Responsibilities:

• Infrastructure Design, Architecture & Implementation: Planning and deploying resilient, scalable network solutions, including VLANs, SD-WAN, and hybrid cloud environments (AWS/Azure)
• Integrated Network Security & Compliance:
  • Designing and maintaining robust security perimeter measures, including Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW), VPNs, and Web Application Firewalls (WAF)
  • Implementing Network Access Control (NAC)and Zero Trust architectures to ensure secure, identity-based connectivity
  • Managing encryption protocols, SSL decryption, and public key infrastructure (PKI) for data in transit
  • Implementing and managing security measures, including next-generation firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA), VPNs, and access control policies (802.1X, AAA)
• Operational Security Management: Conducting regular vulnerability assessments, security audits, and traffic analysis to detect and mitigate potential breaches
• Operational Leadership: Leading major network projects from inception to delivery, coordinating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
• Tier 3 Incident Response: Leading deep-dive troubleshooting and remediation for critical outages and security incidents, coordinating remediation efforts with IT security team
• Automation & Efficiency: Using Python or Ansible to automate repetitive configuration tasks and security patching to reduce human errors
• Performance Optimization: Monitoring network health using tools like SolarWinds or Wireshark, performing capacity planning and performance tuning
• Strategic Leadership: Mentoring junior staff, managing technical documentation, and collaborating with executive leadership to align network growth with business security goals

Qualifications & Key Skills:

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; advanced degrees are often preferred for senior strategic roles
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in complex enterprise networking, with a proven track record in security implementation
• Advanced knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and switching (STP, VLANs)
• Proficiency in cloud networking (AWS VPC, Azure Networking) and automation scripting (Python, Ansible)
• Deep knowledge of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and TCP/IP protocols
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or industry-specific standards like PCI DSS

Certifications (Industry Standards):

• Networking: Cisco CCNP/CCIE or Juniper JNCIP/JNCIE
• Security: CISSP, Cisco CCNP Security, or Palo Alto PCNSE

Soft Skills

• Analytical Problem Solving: Ability to diagnose complex system anomalies in high-pressure environments
• Communication: Translating complex technical risks into clear, actionable reports for non-technical stakeholders
