Our client, a leader and growing presence in the robotics and autonomous vehicles space, is seeking a System Architect to join their growing and talented team. The System Architect provides technical leadership and architectural authority for complex autonomous robotic systems supporting construction and industrial applications. This role owns system-level design decisions, architectural standards, and cross-domain integration, ensuring solutions are safe, scalable, and aligned with long-term product and business objectives.
Operating as a senior technical leader, this individual partners closely with engineering leadership, product management, and safety teams to guide system architecture from concept through deployment, certification, and lifecycle support.
Key Responsibilities - Define, own, and evolve end-to-end system architectures for autonomous vehicle and robotic platforms in construction environments.
- Establish architectural principles, standards, and governance to ensure consistency, scalability, and safety across product lines.
- Lead system requirements definition, decomposition, and traceability across hardware, software, controls, and safety domains.
- Develop and review high-level and detailed system architecture artifacts, including functional block diagrams, interface definitions, and data flows.
- Serve as a senior technical authority supporting safety-related activities, including Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA) and design assurance processes.
- Guide cross-functional engineering teams through architecture-driven implementation, integration, and validation efforts.
- Identify architectural risks, tradeoffs, and dependencies; drive resolution through informed technical decision-making.
- Mentor system engineers and architects, elevating overall systems engineering maturity and best practices.
- Communicate architectural vision, risks, and tradeoffs effectively to executive leadership, customers, and regulatory stakeholders.
- Support roadmap planning by aligning system architecture with future product capabilities, technology evolution, and scalability needs.
Qualifications Education - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience - 7-10+ years of experience in system architecture, systems engineering, or solution architecture roles.
- Demonstrated experience architecting complex, safety-critical systems involving tightly integrated hardware and software.
- 3+ years of experience applying architecture frameworks and practices (e.g., TOGAF) across multiple domains.
- Experience in robotics, autonomous systems, industrial automation, or construction-related technologies strongly preferred.
Technical Expertise - Deep understanding of system architecture methodologies for safety-critical and mission-critical systems.
- Proven ability to lead requirements development, system modeling, and architectural documentation at scale.
- Strong knowledge of autonomous system technologies, including sensors, control systems, communications, and compute platforms.
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity principles as they apply to connected and autonomous systems.
Leadership & Professional Skills - Strong systems thinking with the ability to balance technical depth and strategic perspective.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to influence without direct authority and drive alignment across multidisciplinary teams.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills for technical, executive, and regulatory audiences.
- High attention to detail with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and performance.
