Summary

Core Responsibilities

  • Consult with internal customers and external vendors to understand business objectives and processes.

  • Perform research and fact-finding to gather and document business requirements.

  • Translate business needs into functional and system requirements for technical and non-technical teams.

  • Collaborate with design, architecture, engineering, development, QA, and UAT teams to ensure solutions meet business goals.

  • Develop and maintain:

    • Business Requirements Documents (BRD)

    • System Requirements (SRQ)

    • Process flows

    • Use cases

    • Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM)

  • Facilitate creation of business requirements using traditional or BPA methodologies.

  • Manage requirement review, scoring, approval, and claiming processes with stakeholders.

  • Identify stakeholders, risks, assumptions, dependencies, and impacts of system changes.

  • Conduct SRQ reviews to ensure completeness, clarity, and traceability.

  • Map SRQs to business requirements within RTM.

  • Review application designs and QA/UAT test plans to validate requirement coverage.

  • Support software testing and debugging activities.

  • Provide regular project status updates, including risks, dependencies, and progress tracking.

  • Participate in vendor demonstrations, evaluations, selections, and RFP responses.

  • Facilitate stakeholder and cross-functional meetings.

  • Provides strategic and optimal business solutions while minimizing risks.

  • Acts as a primary consultant for business functions.

  • Maintains awareness of industry standards and best practices.

  • Participates in strategic planning and portfolio discussions.

  • Possesses deep knowledge across multiple functional areas.

  • Guides and mentors lower-level analysts.

  • Considered a go-to expert within the organization.

  • Influences stakeholders across all organizational levels.


Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong business analysis and requirement gathering skills.

  • Expertise in process mapping, use cases, and workflow documentation.

  • Experience with RTM management and requirement traceability.

  • Ability to analyze business and system impacts.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Knowledge of QA/UAT validation processes.

  • Problem-solving and risk assessment capabilities.

  • Ability to work independently on complex assignments.

  • Strong documentation and presentation skills.

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional technical teams.


Typical Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in a related field required.

  • Typically 5–8 years of relevant experience.

  • OR Master’s degree with 3–5 years of experience.

  • Certifications may be required depending on the business area.


Scope & Impact

  • Works as a seasoned professional contributor.

  • May lead projects or major project components with moderate to significant business impact.

  • Responsible for solving complex business and system problems.

  • Primarily an individual contributor role (50%+ hands-on work).

  • May oversee project tasks and mentor team members, but typically no direct hiring/firing responsibility.


Work Environment & Autonomy

  • Independently manages assignments with limited supervision.

  • Determines solution approaches and execution strategies.
