Join a premier research and innovation organization based in Columbus, OH, as a Senior Network Engineer. You will support internal corporate IT while gaining exposure to innovative technology and specialized science initiatives. This role offers a collaborative environment where your ideas directly impact technical strategy, free from massive corporate egos. You will benefit from a 9/80 work schedule, working 80 hours over nine days to enjoy every other Friday off. The position begins on-premises to support onboarding and transitions to a hybrid schedule featuring three days in the office and two days remote. Responsibilities

• Design, implement, operate, and support enterprise network infrastructure across local, wide-area, and cloud-connected environments.
• Act as a core designer and implementer with direct ownership of technical strategy and execution.
• Operate and support Zero Trust security software utilizing identity-aware access and policy-based controls.
• Integrate centralized management firewalls seamlessly with multi-cloud environments, specifically AWS and Azure.
• Monitor, analyze, and optimize overall network performance and capacity using enterprise analytics tools.
• Lead the technical execution of assigned network initiatives from initial planning through final implementation.
• Provide troubleshooting and resolution for complex network incidents across core, access, and edge environments.
• Participate in a scheduled on-call rotation to maintain critical enterprise network services during evenings or weekends.

qualifications:

Must-Haves: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in network engineering or a closely related technical role. Enterprise-level, hands-on experience with Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) or SASE platforms, such as Cloudflare, Zscaler, Palo Alto Prisma Access, or Netskope. Experience integrating central management firewalls with multi-cloud environments like AWS and Azure. Strong hands-on background in administering Palo Alto security products and next-generation firewalls. Fundamental expertise in core networking basics, including switching, hardware, and wireless skills. U.S. Citizenship, with a background that allows for passing standard checks for handling sensitive material. Willingness to work on-site in Columbus, OH.

Nice-to-Haves: Hands-on administration experience specifically with Cloudflare SASE, Cloudflare WARP, and Cloudflare One. Integration experience with Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD). Experience utilizing network monitoring and logging tools such as PRTG, Grafana, and Prometheus. Hands-on experience supporting Juniper wireless networking solutions. Experience with scripting or automation tools like Python, Ansible, or PowerShell. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
