Critical Environment (CE) EngineerLocation: Northlake, IL (Onsite)
Pay Rate: Up to $50/hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Flexible shift schedules, including 12-hour and rotating shifts
Position OverviewWe are seeking a
Critical Environment (CE) Engineer to support the reliable operation of critical infrastructure systems within a high-availability data center environment. This role is responsible for operating, maintaining, and responding to issues involving mechanical and electrical systems that support mission-critical operations.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in critical facilities, strong communication skills, and the ability to independently execute tasks in high-impact environments.
Key Responsibilities- Perform all duties associated with CE Technician Level 1 and Level 2 roles
- Execute Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for critical systems while operating at "N" level redundancy, including:
- Chillers
- Chilled water pumps
- Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAHs)
- Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot critical infrastructure systems to ensure uptime and reliability
- Utilize Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) and Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Safely respond to alarms, incidents, and system anomalies
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and vendors while maintaining clear documentation and communication
- Follow all safety protocols and compliance requirements in a mission-critical environment
Required Qualifications- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in a technical or trade-related field such as:
- Electrical or mechanical systems
- Controls or automation
- Data centers or critical facilities
- Manufacturing, hospitals, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, or similar high-availability environments
- Experience working with electrical systems in critical infrastructure settings
- OSHA or OSHA-approved NFPA 70E certification (required)
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including:
- 12-hour shifts
- Rotating shifts
- 3-5 day work weeks
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage tasks independently
Preferred Qualifications- Experience working in a data center or critical facilities environment
- EPA Universal or Refrigerant License
- Prior experience operating systems at reduced redundancy levels

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.00 - $50.00/hr.
