Role Overview:

We are looking for a Data Testing Engineer to ensure the accuracy, completeness, integrity, performance and reliability of semantic models and business reports.

This role will be responsible for validation of semantic models, data and referential integrity, transformational logic, reconcile measures with source data and visualization are up to standards and validate only authorized and approved users has access to the data. And, shall have knowledge of health care and understand the functional details, guide the team of test engineers, ensure data testing deliverables are on track and provide complete test coverage

Key Responsibilities:

Data Testing & Validation:

• Develop and maintain test strategy - scenarios & cases, test plans, and test scripts to validate the semantic model, business rules and transformation logic by validating measures, KPIs, calculated attributes.
• Focus on 100% coverage of functional test cases specific to Data Product versions.
• Align Test Scenarios & Cases with overall test strategy / Plan, if applicable.
• Understand data product versions, functional artifacts for the business and transformation logic for the measures, KPIs.
• Validate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency and ensure semantic models serve as a single source of truth.
• Perform data reconciliation against source to identify any data discrepancies at the earliest.
• Along with the functional testing, ensure cosmetic - visuals including text\image consistency, color coding, charts, scale remain consistent under various scenarios.
• Validate data refresh frequency, availability of latest data in semantic models and reports, with various source systems involved.
• Ensure the performance of semantic models and reports meets SLAs, perform peak data volume testing, other applicable scenarios and capture the metrics.
• Should understand the broader picture of the use case and provide the test coverage accordingly.

Test Automation & Scripting:

• Utilize the data testing tool for creating & executing test cases where applicable and create custom queries for specific scenarios;
• And, increase automation ratio by identifying highly repetitive test scenarios and automate them. Develop anomaly detection scripts to monitor data integrity.
• Maintain test artifacts in a centralized repository, to support and enable the data validation by Data Engineers & Analysts in the workgroup.
• Security & Compliance:
• Proactively work with the Data Product team to understand the source system data, identify any PII & PHI data involved and ensure only authorized users have access to the data.
• Collaboration & Defect Management:
• Work closely with UAT users and business\data analysts, and data product teams to understand data requirements, experience handling multiple data products and issues in them.
• Identify, log, and track data quality issues and defects using defect management tools.
• Drive the defect triage with root cause analysis and troubleshooting of data-related issues.
• Communicate test results and data quality metrics to stakeholders.
• Analyze defects reported during UAT and identify root cause to avoid recurrence.
• Attend sprint ceremonies - daily DSUS, actively participate and contribute in planning & refinement sessions, retrospective meetings.
• Demo the test strategy and test results, highlight the scenarios specific to the data product version.

Required Skills:

• 5 years of testing experience in semantic models and reporting (Power BI).
• Strong analytical skills to quickly triage and isolate the issue and collaborate with teams to triage the issue and assign priority.
• Prioritize critical issues over others and plan the necessary steps to resolve it.
• Proficient in writing and analyzing complex SQLs, experience with datasets in BigQuery or similar, experience analyzing data in GCS files or similar, JSON schema, and XML format.
• Experience with Python scripting for data testing automation.
• Hands-on experience with data quality testing tools and frameworks.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for debugging data issues.
• Ability to guide test engineers in the team, review their work and provide complete test coverage. Provide walkthrough of test results & summary (includes functional, visualization, performance, technical data validations) at the end of sprint;
• Test summary has to be consolidated and shared with Delivery workgroups and Tech managers with Testing metrics and KPIs for automation.
• Identify opportunities to automate & accelerate overall Data Products Testing.
• Performance and reliability test experience for semantic and reporting for 2-3 years.
• Overall Data Testing & engineering experience of 8-10 years.

Skills Preferred:

• Experience in healthcare data platforms and regulatory compliance (e.g., HIPAA) will be a Plus. Experience with data observability tools and anomaly detection techniques.
• Familiarity with Collibra Data Quality or other metadata/data governance tools.
• Hands-on Experience in EHR & Healthcare systems knowledge.

Education

• Bachelors or Masters in Information Technology, Computer Science or relevant field.
