Position Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Windows Systems Administrator to join our dynamic contract IT team. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of proven expertise managing Windows server environments and SQL databases. This role is pivotal in maintaining, securing, and optimizing our Windows infrastructure and SQL systems crucial for business operations. You will collaborate closely with technical teams, management, and clients to ensure system reliability, security, and performance. Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, maintain, and optimize Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022).
- Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Windows patching processes.
- Monitor system performance; troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues promptly.
- Implement, support, and oversee backup/recovery solutions and disaster recovery plans.
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server environments; write and optimize SQL queries for automation and reporting.
- Collaborate with development teams and stakeholders to ensure system compatibility and high performance.
- Maintain security best practices, including system hardening and vulnerability mitigation.
- Produce comprehensive documentation for system configurations, procedures, and change controls.
Top Requirements:
- 5-7 years of experience in Windows system administration for mid to large-scale environments.
- Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server: installation, maintenance, scripting, and performance tuning.
- Proficiency with PowerShell scripting for automation tasks.
- Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, and Nutanix.
- Understanding of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs).
- Knowledge of ITIL practices and change management processes is a plus.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities with a customer-focused approach.
