Description:
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to support mission-critical enterprise systems in Salt Lake City. In this role, you will work as part of a consulting delivery team, contributing to the stability, enhancement, and modernization of large-scale mainframe applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional and distributed teams to address complex business and technical challenges in a fast-paced environment.

This job will have the following responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with product management and business stakeholders to analyze requirements and deliver scalable solutions
  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM
  • Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to secure coding and development standards
  • Support application maintenance, production stability, and enhancements across multiple systems
  • Debug and resolve complex technical issues efficiently
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including system designs and operational procedures
  • Coordinate development activities and deliverables with offshore and distributed teams
  • Provide on-call support and assist with production issue resolution
  • Support application releases, audits, and user-reported issues
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert and mentor junior developers

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience supporting and maintaining mainframe applications
  • Strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM
  • Experience working in large, distributed development environments
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with offshore teams
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience documenting technical systems and processes
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Assembler and EZtrieve
  • Familiarity with Endevor or similar mainframe source control tools
  • Prior experience in enterprise or consulting environments
