The role involves close collaboration with HR, Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, and IT teams to ensure secure access to employee data, maintain regulatory compliance, and deliver reliable reporting solutions that support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Ownership & Agile Delivery

  • Own and maintain the roadmap for Workday Security and Reporting enhancements based on business priorities and compliance requirements.

  • Manage and prioritize the product backlog using Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar project management tools.
  • Facilitate sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Track delivery progress through sprint metrics, issue resolution timelines, audit compliance, reporting performance, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Coordinate with HR functional teams, technical specialists, and business stakeholders to ensure timely and successful delivery.

2. Workday Security Administration & Governance

  • Design, configure, and optimize Workday security frameworks across Core HCM, Compensation, Payroll, Benefits, Talent, and Time & Absence.
  • Manage domain security policies, business process security policies, role-based security groups, user-based security groups, job-based security groups, segment-based security, and intersection security groups.
  • Implement least-privilege access controls and establish effective Segregation of Duties (SoD) practices.
  • Conduct periodic security access reviews and support internal and external audits.
  • Ensure security configurations align with SOX IT General Controls (ITGC), GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and applicable data privacy requirements.
  • Investigate security issues, remediate access-related risks, and maintain accurate audit documentation.
  • Assess the impact of Workday's semiannual R1 and R2 releases on existing security configurations and implement necessary changes.

3. Workday Reporting & Analytics

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize Advanced, Matrix, Composite, and Search reports within Workday.
  • Build complex calculated fields, report prompts, and shared data sources to support business and operational reporting requirements.
  • Create executive dashboards, scorecards, and Discovery Boards to provide actionable workforce insights.
  • Troubleshoot report performance issues and improve reporting efficiency for large datasets.
  • Establish reporting standards, maintain a centralized report catalog, and reduce duplicate or redundant reports.
  • Enable self-service reporting by providing guidance and training to HR teams and other business users.
  • Ensure appropriate security controls are applied to reports containing confidential employee and organizational data.

4. Stakeholder Collaboration & Knowledge Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Workday Security and Reporting initiatives across HR, Compliance, Legal, Internal Audit, and IT.
  • Work with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs), functional analysts, integration teams, and system administrators to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Maintain technical documentation, configuration records, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and operational runbooks.
  • Establish repeatable processes for security administration, reporting governance, audit preparation, and issue resolution.
  • Mentor internal teams on Workday security best practices, advanced reporting techniques, and governance standards.
  • Communicate technical risks, delivery progress, and improvement opportunities to business and executive stakeholders.

  • Strong understanding of security governance, access reviews, audit controls, and employee data privacy.

Product Ownership & Agile Experience

  • 2–3 years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or Lead Agile Business Analyst delivering enterprise Workday initiatives.
  • Proven ability to define product roadmaps, manage backlogs, and prioritize enhancements based on business value and risk.
  • Experience writing user stories, defining acceptance criteria, and coordinating sprint-based delivery.
  • Proficiency with Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, or comparable Agile management tools.
