Summary

Position Description

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Product Environmental Compliance Engineer to join the Data Power & Control Division and support the Starline business unit. This role plays a critical part in ensuring Starline products meet global environmental, chemical, and material compliance requirements while remaining market-ready across regions.

In this position, you will collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, sustainability, and supply-chain partners to translate regulatory requirements into clear, actionable product guidance. The role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of engineering, sustainability, and global regulation, contributing to responsible product development and continuous improvement.
What You Will Do
  • Support the compliance of Starline products across global markets by maintaining evidence-based environmental and material compliance programs.
  • Coordinate product-level compliance activities related to regulations such as REACH (including SCIP), RoHS, PFAS, TSCA, Prop 65, EU POPs, WEEE, VOC, conflict and extended minerals, and emerging Digital Product Passport requirements.
  • Collect, maintain, and validate environmental and material compliance data to ensure traceability, accuracy, and audit readiness.
  • Prepare certifications, declarations, technical files, and market-access documentation required to support product sales and customer needs.
  • Respond to regulatory, internal, and customer requests with clear, timely, and accurate compliance information.
  • Partner with external laboratories, consultants, and vendors that support testing, regulatory assessments, and documentation.
  • Participate in the LNCA Product Sustainability & Compliance Committee by sharing regulatory updates, trends, and business impact assessments.
  • Support engineering, packaging, and material changes by providing compliance requirements and participating in ECN/ECR processes to ensure ongoing conformity.
  • Contribute to internal compliance audits and continuous improvement of tools, processes, and workflows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, chemistry, materials science, or a related technical discipline. Equivalent experience or a combination of education and hands-on experience will also be considered.
  • Approximately 2-4 years of relevant experience in environmental compliance, product stewardship, engineering support, or a related technical field.
  • Working knowledge of environmental and product compliance regulations, with the ability to apply requirements at the individual product or material level.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and communicate complex requirements clearly.
Desired Skills and Experience (Nice to Have)
  • Experience working with regulations such as REACH, RoHS, Prop 65, TSCA, PFAS, and related global standards.
  • Experience using or learning PLM, ERP, or sustainability data management systems.
  • Familiarity with engineering documentation including drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and change control processes.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis or visualization tools.
  • General understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes, with training available to develop deeper compliance-specific expertise.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across a range of audience

If you do not meet every qualification listed, we still encourage you to apply. We value curiosity, problem-solving ability, and a willingness to learn.
Work Environment and Additional Information
  • This role is primarily office-based, with periodic time spent in manufacturing environments as needed.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and to occasionally lift or carry materials up to 25 lbs, with reasonable accommodations available.
  • Up to 10% domestic and international travel may be required.
  • Personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and hearing protection will be provided when working in manufacturing areas.
