  • Serve as a technical leader by defining and promoting engineering standards, best practices, and architectural patterns.
  • Analyze and resolve complex technical challenges by evaluating multiple factors, including ambiguous or unprecedented conditions.
  • Provide hands-on leadership for FIX onboarding, certification, and production rollout with external counterparties.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and diagnose FIX connectivity and session issues, ensuring system reliability and performance.

  • 5 years of hands-on experience with the FIX protocol, including session and application layers, message types, and tag structures.
  • 5 years of experience onboarding FIX connections, including certification testing, conformance, and go-live coordination.
  • Experience designing and building backend services, APIs, or integration platforms.
  • Experience diagnosing FIX session issues (e.g., sequence gaps, heartbeat issues, message rejections).
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals relevant to FIX connectivity (TCP/IP, TLS, firewalls, extranet providers).
  • Experience with source control systems, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
  • Ability to collaborate directly with external technical teams to resolve connectivity and message-mapping issues.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience mentoring engineers or serving in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience building software in one or more general-purpose languages (e.g., C#, Java, Python).
  • Familiarity with trading workflows, including order routing, executions, allocations, and confirmations.
  • Experience with common FIX message flows (e.g., NewOrderSingle, ExecutionReport, OrderCancelRequest).
  • Experience coordinating FIX certification and UAT with broker-dealers, exchanges, or ECNs.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms and containerized environments (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, monitoring, and alerting strategies.
  • Experience with CI/CD automation and modern development tools.
  • Knowledge of secure software development practices and application security tooling.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call or rotational production support.
Work Environment
  • Hybrid work model with in-office collaboration based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
  • Agile, product-aligned teams with shared ownership and close partnership with business stakeholders.
  • Modern engineering culture leveraging AI-assisted development, automation, and scalable cloud infrastructure.
