Position Title: Naval Architect Intern

Location: Metairie, LA

Position Overview: Bollinger is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Naval Architecture Intern for a full-time, on-site summer internship at our Metairie, LA facility. This opportunity is ideal for students pursuing a degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering who are eager to apply their academic knowledge in a professional, real-world environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Engineering department by conducting research and preparing technical documentation.
  • Perform general office tasks with high attention to detail, including organizing reports and maintaining engineering records.
  • Perform structural calculations and weight take-offs, assist in the development of 2D drawings and 3D modeling, as well as create and analyze models using GHS (General Hydrostatics) software.
  • Participate in incline experiments and deadweight surveys.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineers, designers, and other personnel to support various projects.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Currently a junior or senior enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar engineering software is a plus.
  • Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, a proactive attitude, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in Naval Architecture, allowing students to develop industry-relevant skills, expand their professional network, and contribute meaningfully to Bollinger's Engineering department.
