Pay Range: $70 /hour. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Prepare financial statements and disclosures under US GAAP and statutory accounting principles (SAP).
- Oversee accounting for life insurance and annuity products, ensuring accurate recording of premiums, claims, and policyholder account balances.
- Partner with actuarial teams to reconcile insurance contract liabilities and maintain clear ownership of actuarial calculations.
- Coordinate timely preparation of NAIC annual and quarterly statements and maintain internal controls over financial reporting.
- Manage, develop, and coach the accounting and reporting team, establishing clear responsibilities and documentation standards.
Key Requirements and Technology Experience:
- 8–12 years of progressively responsible accounting and financial reporting experience, with substantial experience in life insurance, annuities, or life reinsurance.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, statutory accounting principles, and NAIC financial statement reporting.
- Practical experience with insurance liabilities, policyholder transactions, and investment accounting.
- Experience leading a financial close and reporting function, with team management or supervisory responsibility.
- Public accounting or insurance audit experience.
- Experience with US GAAP long-duration insurance accounting and risk-based Client reporting.
- Experience implementing financial reporting systems or improving insurance finance processes.
