AI/ ML Senior Manager

Location: Auburn Hills, Michigan (hybrid)

Employment Type: Contract to Perm

Role Overview

The Senior Manager of AI/ML leads the AIRE team in building and deploying intelligent systems that power a connected product ecosystem. This role defines and executes the AI strategy across pet recognition, behavioral modeling, predictive insights, and intelligent in-app experiences. Partnering with Software Engineering, Product, and Data teams, this leader ensures machine learning solutions are scalable, production-ready, and aligned to customer and business impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of software solutions aligned with company strategy.
  • Manage engineering resources and budget, balancing innovation with operational discipline.
  • Define and execute the MLCV roadmap aligned with product and business strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to apply machine learning and deep learning across the connected ecosystem.
  • Lead development of supervised and unsupervised learning systems, including behavioral modeling and predictive analytics.
  • Drive innovation in pet recognition, sensor fusion, and intelligent in-app experiences.
  • Establish scalable MLOps practices for model training, validation, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Recruit, mentor, and grow a high-performing AI/ML team and develop future technical leaders.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Operations, and business leaders to translate requirements into solutions.
  • Define and monitor engineering KPIs to measure performance and drive improvement.
Required Qualifications

Education: MS or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent years of experience.

Experience: 8+ years of experience in AI/ML development and 3+ years in a technical leadership role. Experience building and deploying ML models in production environments is required.

Technical Skills: Strong expertise in Python and modern ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch. Experience with cloud-based ML infrastructure, with AWS being preferred. A deep understanding of supervised, unsupervised, and deep learning methodologies is necessary.
