Product Specialist
The Client is seeking a Product Specialist who is the primary technical resource responsible for ensuring all agency-hosted content meets the ADA Title II Accessibility standards for stakeholders accessing Agency resources.
The technical resource may own all or part of a product, or several products, depending on the nature of the product(s) and/or implementation.
The technical resource requires significant experience remediating Accessibility concerns with html mark-up, Office365 and PDF formatted content. The resource must have significant experience in the operating environment(s) (e.g., web hosting technologies, Office 365 ecosystem, etc.) where the content is hosted.
The resource is responsible for collaborating and partnering with both internal/external Business and Technical stakeholders to ensure content is compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standards.
This position functions as a member of the ITS Team, reports to the ITS Manager, and collaborates with ITS Technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Conduct accessibility assessments of websites, dashboards, forms, PDFs, SharePoint content, Office365 documents, and system interfaces to ensure alignment with ADA, Section 508, and WCAG 2.1 AA.
Collaborate with developers, designers, content authors, business teams, and Project Managers to ensure accessibility standards are incorporated into new and existing content.
Identify accessibility issues, evaluate defect severity, and provide clear remediation guidance.
Validate corrected accessibility issues and document findings.
Maintain guidelines, checklists, job aids, and documentation to support consistent accessibility practices across the agency.
Participate in ADA project meetings and workstreams, including ongoing accessibility touchpoints.
Provide status updates, document tracking, and reporting to support ADA compliance roadmap
Mentor and train Agency stakeholders on accessibility standards and practices
Provide end-user support to staff remediating accessibility errors.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Detailed Day-To-Day Job Duties to be performed:
Core Responsibilities
1. ADA / WCAG Evaluation & Remediation
o Conduct ADA Title II digital accessibility audits of websites, SharePoint pages, electronic forms, and application features.
o Remediate documents (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) consistent with internal processes, Institutional and Agency sponsored training.
o Test with assistive technologies (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver), keyboard navigation, and automated tools (ARC, Acquia, BrowserStack, Axe).
o Validate existing linked content against WCAG 2.1 AA; ensure compliance with ADA Title II expectations.
o Provide expert guidance on semantic HTML, ARIA roles, heading structures, forms, focus order, and color contrast.
o Make recommendations for technical enhancements and process improvements.
o Perform impact analysis on fixes/enhancements to determine scope and priority.
o Provide ongoing product support, including fielding detailed product questions.
3. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
o Work closely with business teams to translate process needs into accessible content requirements.
o Partner with developers, designers, content authors, and business teams to promote accessibility best practices
o Support enterprise wide accessibility initiatives, participate in compliance working sessions.
4. Documentation & Training
o Create accessibility remediation instructions, checklists, job aids, and user friendly guidance materials.
Deliver training to business users, content authors, and other Agency stakeholders on accessibility standards, best-practice, and remediation processes
o Maintain documentation on accessibility processes, standards, best-practice, testing results, and remediation processes.
5. Compliance & Continuous Improvement
o Stay current on Section 508, WCAG, and digital accessibility trends, legislation, and enforcement.
o Ensure readiness for internal audits and external reviews
o Review accessibility related feedback and help drive organizational improvements.
REQUIRED Skill Sets:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Experience:
Strong knowledge of DOJ ADA Title II, Section 508, WCAG 2.1 AA, and accessibility laws/regulations
2+ years of experience performing accessibility audits and remediating digital content (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
2+ years of experience, proficiency with accessibility testing tools: ARC toolkit, NVDA, Acquia, BrowserStack, Office365 & Adobe Acrobat integrated accessibility tools, and/or similar tools.
2+ years of experience working with HTML mark-up, CSS, ARIA, semantic structure, and accessible form authoring.
2+ years of experience reviewing technical designs for accessibility integration
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to evaluate content, identify accessibility issues, and remediate.
Ability to produce accurate, comprehensive documentation, job aids, and user guides.
Ability to train end-users on technical/functional tools & concepts.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively; strong prioritization and organization skills.
Effective collaboration skills, team player in a fast paced and rapid delivery environment.
Required excellent written and oral communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
