Summary

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Snowflake Architect to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of a modern, cloud-based data architecture. This role is a key contributor within our Digital Metamorphosis initiative, focused on modernizing enterprise data platforms by leveraging Snowflake and cloud technologies across AWS and Azure.
The ideal candidate brings deep Snowflake expertise, strong cloud architecture skills, and experience building scalable, production-grade data ingestion and analytics solutions using both batch and real-time streaming patterns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and govern enterprise-scale data solutions using Snowflake as the core cloud data platform
  • Lead the migration of application data from on-premises Oracle environments to cloud-based architectures (Snowflake / Databricks)
  • Design and optimize data ingestion frameworks supporting:
    • File-based batch loads
    • Micro-batching
    • Real-time and streaming data pipelines
  • Develop and optimize advanced Snowflake components including:
    • Complex SQL transformations
    • Stored procedures
    • Performance tuning and cost optimization strategies
  • Define and enforce data modeling standards, including dimensional and analytical models
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, analytics teams, and architects to translate business requirements into scalable technical designs
  • Implement and oversee data security, governance, and compliance best practices
  • Partner with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automated deployments
  • Monitor platform health, optimize performance, and ensure high availability and data quality
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and design standards

Required Qualifications

Core Technical Skills

  • 3+ years of hands-on Snowflake experience, including advanced SQL, stored procedures, and performance tuning
  • Strong cloud architecture expertise in AWS and/or Microsoft Azure
  • Experience designing scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines
  • Proficiency with cloud services such as:
    • AWS: S3, Lambda, CloudWatch
    • Azure: Data Factory, Event Hubs, Blob Storage, Azure Functions
  • Strong Python development skills for automation, transformations, and API integrations
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, analytics, and warehouse design patterns
  • Deep knowledge of data security, access control, and governance frameworks

This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80.00 - $100.00/hr.
