This is primarily a remote consulting position, but candidate may choose to work at ICJIA's downtown Chicago office during the agency's regular business hours Monday thru Friday (8:30 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.) pending availability.

This is a full-time position. The selected candidate must work 37.5 hours per week. The selected candidate will start as soon as possible.

This position is TEMPORARY and does NOT include state benefits.

POSITION POSTING/MARKETING STATEMENT

The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority (ICJIA) is seeking a Senior Criminal Justice Data Analytics Consultant to provide temporary leadership and technical support to the Center for Crime and Justice Data and Analytics (CCJDA) during a temporary staffing transition. This is a six-month consulting engagement with the possibility of extension based on agency needs and available funding.

The consultant will work closely with Research & Analysis leadership and CCJDA staff to support the production of statewide statistical reports, public-facing dashboards, administrative datasets, and other data products used by policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and the public.

The consultant will provide technical oversight and quality assurance for a portfolio of data and reporting projects, including Statistical Analysis Center initiatives funded by the Bureau of Justice Statistics, Justice Counts implementation, Deaths in Custody reporting, Criminal History Record Information audits, and other statewide data initiatives. The consultant will collaborate with research staff, data analysts, information technology personnel, and external stakeholders to ensure timely completion of high-quality analytical products.

This is a primarily remote consulting position. Periodic travel to ICJIA's Chicago office will be required for meetings, project coordination, and other business needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in criminology, criminal justice, sociology, public policy, statistics, data science, public administration, or a closely related field.
  • At least ten years of professional experience conducting and leading quantitative research, statistical analysis, data analytics, program evaluation, or public policy research projects.
  • At least five years of experience providing leadership, management, technical oversight, or supervision of professional research, evaluation, analytics, or data staff.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience providing leadership and technical oversight for criminal legal system data, statistical reporting, research, or analytics teams.
  • Experience overseeing the development and maintenance of public-facing dashboards, data visualization products, and large-scale administrative data reporting systems.
  • Experience producing or managing statutorily required reports, federal reporting requirements, performance measurement systems, or statewide data reporting initiatives.
  • Experience serving as a principal investigator, research director, center director, or equivalent leadership role overseeing criminal legal system research, statistical reporting, or data analytics programs.
  • Demonstrated experience authoring, reviewing, or overseeing publication-quality research reports, statistical reports, evaluation reports, policy briefs, or other public-facing analytical products.
  • Experience working with large-scale criminal legal system administrative datasets and data governance practices.
